Ole Miss dodged the biggest bullet of the season.

The rebels looked competent and strong in the playoffs.
As a result, they are mostly stable and doing well in the portal.
Bama on the other hand got fricking dogwalked in front of millions and wonder why theyre hemorrhaging players to better schools.
Ole Miss didnt have to step in front of that buzzsaw.
It does the heart good to watch this while Lane, Golding , Stein, and Sark absolutely slaughter the portal like it was their birthright.
The balance is shifting hard.

I thought the whole reason Lane portaled to LSU is so he wouldn't have to slaughter the portal.

There was no getting around it year 1 unfortunately.
But Lane signed the best DL class in school history and the #1 recruit. So LSU is well on its way.

If LSU were an Arkansas or Miss State or something I'd get it. But ever since 2019, you guys have talked a big off season game and not delivered.
I'd be excited around your own fanbase and take a more tempered wait and see approach over here. I guess some of you don't mind the crow buffet you've been munching on for the past half decade over here.

The FIRST YEAR he needs the portal because of asswipe BK, after he should get his base from regular recruitment and supplement through the portal. Many on the team were not wanted by Lane so he had to go portal.

Same as backup QB — but let’s ground ourselves here… because to be fair we are talking about Orgeron and Kelly.
I want you to try and imagine your own reaction if Kirby Smart retired tomorrow & either one of those guys was the replacement.

Every fanbase has its idiots, but the way you’re saying it is that most LSU fans have been boosting about how great we are for 5 years. That’s just not true lol.

You’re absolutely right. HS recruiting this go around is basically a throw away and you need portal players to contribute immediately.
But just a fair warning that this was the excuse for what was lazy high school recruiting for a few years until we just gave up and went dick deep into portal recruiting. The only time I’ve ever seen Lane hardcore recruiting a HS player was Judkins. Otherwise he was pretty nonexistent in high school recruiting.

Korean grow a brain. It's Lane's first year at LSU following a pathetic HC. He didn't want many of LSU players so of course he has to go portal year one, but that should change. He hasn't been at LSU long enough for regular recruiting. The people on this board, not very bright.

The portal isn't going away. If Nuss was still eligible Lane would still probably have gone to the portal (Nuss played like arse this season but you get what I'm saying). Has nothing to do with coming to LSU so he doesn't have to go to the portal. If anything he is more likely to go to the portal trying to steal a big fish and is likely to grab them BECAUSE he is at LSU. Imo
