Why are you so obsessed with Kentucky? It’s unhealthy and you look like a moron.

Look at any Arkansas Basketball comment section, on any site and then look in a mirror.

Probably - I remember Pitino started 31-19 and despite his departure we were pretty good then.
It’s frustrating to see the team you root for struggle. Everyone here knows the feeling but only gets froggy with their kitschy posts when they are feeling themselves.
If you’ve been around sports long enough, this isn’t an anomaly. shite is cyclical and tends to bring itself back around eventually. That’s the difference between a fan and a dick rider.

Sadly - Mark Pope will indeed coach a third season at Kentucky. At this point, I truly believe Mitch Barnhart will do one more year as AD. Simply to prevent anyone else coming in and firing Mark Pope.
After next year ? Mark Pope is gone. I'm confident in saying that now - because Mark Pope can't manage the resources available to him and field a working college basketball team with it. We saw, last year, that Pope's one of those guys that is better off with less talent. Kind of like Tubby Smith in that regard. Given too much money to get talent ? He can't get out of his own way.
Thank you, Arkansas fan, for your interest in Kentucky Basketball.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Mark Stoops but then realized they finally got around to firing that ol’ boy a while back.

Pope went to the portal his first year and got players that fit his system. Those guys were from mid majors and tickled to wear the blue and white. He was told that team was soft.
So he goes out and gets a physical team that can’t shoot or pass. A bunch of mercenaries that play for money, not the name on the front of the jersey.
Be true to yourself. When you listen to others you lose your arse. Hopefully, if he does come back he learns from this.

At this point, the decision is out of Mitch Barnhart's hands with this fan base. Only a miraculous and IMMEDIATE turnaround of this season will salvage Pope's job. Only then can UK attempt to justify running this back with this fan base, even if we spent having any of it.
As things stand, the damage has been done and we aren't going to be able to sign the difference makers we need to correct the ship's course next year. Pope hasn't signed a single recruit for next season. And as horrible as things are right now, I don't see how winning enough games to get to the NCAAT is going to change enough elite 5* recruits' minds to sign with us next year.
So while fixing this team may delay Pope's termination by a season, and they'll try to hire a GM to placate fans, the off court damage that has been done is irreparable at this point. Pope has already shown it isn't a matter of throwing money at the problem. He has the biggest recruiting budget in the nation and absolutely bombed.
Not firing him this offseason is just kicking the can down the road and delaying the inevitable. Is there a sliver of a chance this can all be miraculously fixed. Of course. But I'm not going to waste my breath or time wishing for that 0.01% to manifest itself. That's a fools errand.
