Took a couple of series and a helmet replacement, but once everyone got adjusted back, it was lights out. Never understood the move of him down to the sideline.

I think him being on the sideline made things worse for Simpson.

I would have gotten Ty a sports psychologist several games ago. Some people that tend to over-think things would benefit from assistance in that area.

The larger thing was the first three drives they kept forcing the sugar huddle. We’d line up at 15 seconds, Venables wouldn’t be able to shift, we’d snap with no presnap adjustments and we’d go nowhere.
The fourth drive, down 17-0, they went back to giving Simpson the full clock and suddenly we started moving the ball. We were still shifting plays around 15-16 but we were giving him time to actually adjust immediately after getting everyone set in the new formation because he had an extra 10-15 to evaluate the defensive setup.

Sugar huddle sounds like a drug reference

Honestly the key was our QB finally just chucked it deep. He literally over thought everything and this offense is predicated on taking those vertical shots downfield to keep defenses honest and safeties back so you can run the ball and hit middle shots in space.
When Ty finally just threw them instead of thinking about how inaccurate they were or if his WR would drop them it shell shocked OU's defense because they (just like UGA, Auburn, etc) have their corner stone set as "Their QB is scared to throw seam and fade routes".
Once they had to start guessing what we're doing instead of forcing us into situations we began to force them into them.
Also thank God for our defense and their STs complete imploding lol

We definitely flipped a switch in the 2nd quarter. The td to Brooks was fun to watch, throw it where your guy can get it and trust yourself and your wr.

The key was some rest and recovery for the injured players. Our head coach said our center being close to 100 pct would make a huge difference and our center said having the injured guard back would be a big thing for him. Although the tight ends were not 100 pct they were still an upgrade over the freshman. It was very obvious that our running back was moving much better than the Ga game. And it’s probably safe to say Ty is feeling better. We probably won’t know what the injury is until after the season, but some say it’s fractured ribs. Not sure about that because it doesn’t look like he is wearing any protection. Maybe it would interfere with throwing the ball though.
