But zooming out, this Michigan story is in fact yet another stain in the long list of atrocities committed in the name of BIG sports, which is really quite unparalleled in its moral depravity compared to the other conferences. The BIG smugness has always been a farce based on a lie.

They deserve most everything they've got coming to them.
But raping kids is a whole other level that shouldn't be downplayed by comparing some dude having what I assume was a consensual affair.
That is just not the same thing at all.

I hate Michigan more than most, but a staffer sleeping with her boss is a tale as old as time in college sports and really in corporate America
The program is scum and cheated beyond belief to win a title which they were not properly punished for, but this in isolation is just another power imbalance leading to impropriety

The main controversy on this one is that UM knew about it a year ago but did nothing until, totally coincidentally i’m sure, they lost to OSU.
Eta because I don’t think my greater point was made: with each of these BIG morality stories, there seems to be an institutional component where the admin works to hide and therefore perpetuate the crime. Whether it was OSU protecting the wife-beating coach, it being an open joke that that MSU physician was molesting students for decades i think it was, this current UM story, and of course the abomination that was allowed to happen at PSU…it’s clearly a pattern.
