You’re not. Top five ranked conference champions. Duke is CFP-unranked while Tulane is and JMU is. So those two conference champions get in. Power 4 champs aren’t guaranteed a spot.

The SEC literally manipulated Alabama and Georgia into the playoffs. It was one of the worst championship games of all time. Maybe next year they won’t put their thumb on the scale.
