South Carolina trying to close on Kendal Briles for OC?

Looks like it’s gonna happen

Some Rebel fans mentioned KB as an option recently, and I thought it’d be a decent hire. So, I did some digging and found a thread on another board of TCU fans rejoicing that teams were considering him. I Googled, and turns out they have a couple of boards, and it’s not just a few rabid fans, but damn near 100% consensus that it’s a Christmas miracle someone’s dumb enough to take him.

Don’t disagree, just posting what I found. I thought he’d be a solid option for us.

Should be searching for a new HC instead of a new OC.

Kendall briles is a good OC! I enjoyed him at Arkansas

Right. They've had recent success, but I'm speaking historically.

TCU fans never liked Kendal Briles for 2 reasons: 1) his dad Art coached at their rival Baylor from 2008-2015 and Kendal was an assistant there, and 2) the whole rape is not good thing seems to have eluded him.

“Kendal Briles was also previously an assistant at Baylor from 2008-2016, a period of great on-field success for the Bears and great turmoil off the field due to a widespread sexual assault scandal and Title IX lawsuits. You can read that description of Briles’ resume HERE.

The lawsuit describes a culture of sexual violence under former Baylor football coach Art Briles in which the school implemented a “show ‘em a good time” policy that “used sex to sell” the football program to recruits. That included escorting underage recruits to strip clubs and arranging women to have sex with prospective players, the suit alleges. Former assistant coach Kendal Briles — the son of the head coach — once told a Dallas-area student athlete, “Do you like white women? Because we have a lot of them at Baylor and they love football players,” according to the suit. Investigation by lawyers identified at least 52 “acts of rape,” including five gang rapes, by 31 football players in a four-year period. At least two of the gang rapes were committed by 10 or more players at one time, the suit states.”

I’m happy with this hire if it ends up going through. Briles could absolutely stink it up here and have his worst numbers and we’d still improve drastically. We haven’t had an OC that could put up numbers like this since Spurrier. Whatever hog and horned frogs are complaining about, we’ll take it because they don’t know what suck really looks like on offense until they saw what we’ve done the last 10 years.
