Ballsy.

Surface level take is this can't help recruiting but I'm sure Kirby has weighed the pros and cons.

This is instructive. Apparently high-quality starting edge rushers are worth $30,000 a month these days. Will probably go up with the 18 million in institutional spending.

I'm glad. Rules have to start somewhere. Maybe this helps bring down the nil craziness some.

We led the charge in the suit shared by Oklahoma that allowed CFB games to be televised widespread. Why not break ground here, too?

If they want to act like this is a business and get paid like coaches and pros, they need to learn about contracts.

I'm curious what the result of this will be and its impact on college football moving forward.

Agree, this could set a very interesting precedent that could affect a lot of future NIL deals. And NIL is in major need of some guard rails, in my opinion. It’s currently the wild wild west and the situation as it stands isn’t sustainable.

Wonder if Kirby and the group chat boys have colluded to start pursuing this.

No way he just jumped in alone. I bet we see similar stories once the this new NIL window opens.

From the same article...

quote:

The Bulldogs paid Wilson a total of $30,000 from the disputed contract. Because of the way the deal was crafted, Georgia says Wilson owed it $390,000 in a lump sum within 30 days of his decision to leave the team. Drummond declined to comment when asked why the damages being sought are much higher than the amount Wilson was paid.

Saw a comment (on IG so probably BS) claiming to "know" that Mizzou may have sent Damon the buyout money and he never paid it to UGA. Probably internet BS but if true...wow.

Heard the same thing from reputable sources as well so I don’t think it’s BS.
