What makes Oxford so great?

Admittedly, I know Oxford is a nice town. Other than that and the self entitlement of the people there, my question is what makes it so much better than most other college towns, specifically Baton Rouge? I know BR has its issues, but everything Oxford has to offer as far as shopping, food, extra curricular, etc.. Most college towns have just as much and/or more..

It is not a town for one

Oxford is the perfect small Southern town. Its wealthy but not unattainable, it has great public schools and the people there love the university.
Baton Rouge is a capital city with a crime problem. LSU shares Baton Rouge with one of the worst colleges in America.

For Mississippi, yes.

It's not Baton Rouge for starters.
Living in Baton Rouge is the equivalent of living in a septic tank in the middle if a toxic waste dump.

Anthony Bourdain made a case for the food, so there’s that.
I rarely disagreed with that man. Biting into a live octopus was one case, though.

Oxford is a lot like Ole Miss. It’s a try hard town.
If you want to try and convince your friends you come from generational money while pretending you have charm and love shiplap. Oxford is for you.
Any sorostitute who actually comes from money moves back to Dallas as soon as she graduates to get back on daddy’s tab.

I don’t disagree as far as the cons of BR.. My point is for a guy like Kiffin and their family. Those parts of BR, they will hardly ever be exposed to. Anything that Oxford has to offer, they can do in BR.. I asked the question bc people in Oxford can’t believe he would leave OM for LSU and shite on BR.. Oxford is a nice small town.. But that’s it

No homeless people, great architecture, it’s clean everywhere, outdoorsy, small town that has pretty much all you need.
I spent four years in BR, spent some time in Oxford. Oxford shits on BR in every way.

Ive got a friend that stayed in BR for a few days and went to a LSU home game, as well as staying with me in Tuscaloosa for a week.
He said BR wins the shithole championship and its not even close, he even said the campus and stadium are decrepit.
I dont make the news, I just report it.

It’s a nice small southern town. I enjoyed it. The only thing keeping it from being a great small southern town is the pretentiousness that hangs heavy in the air.

Baton Rouge has neighborhoods larger than the city of Oxford.
