December 5, 1992. Legion Field, Birmingham, AL.
The second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (11-0), coached by Gene Stallings, faced off against Steve Spurrier and the #12 Florida Gators (8-3). Arguably one of the greatest and most important games in college football history, Alabama came out on top by the score of 28-21.

My dad worked for Alabama Power and used to get tickets to everything at Legion Field. I was in 9th grade. I can still remember the crowd going nuts when Langham got the pick 6. For some reason I always had a memory that it was freezing cold.

I was there. Cold and wet. Most fun I have ever had at a game. My oldest brother is a Florida grad. He got me a ticket right in the middle of all the Florida fans.
There was no nastiness between fans. The idea of a conference championship game was so new, I think we were just glad to be there.

Our NT Gregory was out that game and it really hurt us.

The 1992 game generated $6.1 million in total revenue, including TV money. Now the number is close to $50m. Despite the upcoming 9 game schedule, it's hard to imagine $ankey giving this cash cow the boot.

And the last one will be tomorrow if they try some dumb shite like leaving Bama out of the playoffs.
