Is a complete buffoon for the way he has handled this entire situation. Including naming Golding head coach Sunday which opens the portal Friday for any player wanting to transfer. There's a reason programs use the interm title until the season is over, even if the new head coach is already on staff. Is Carter untouchable in Oxford? He should be fired for tanking their season.

I don’t think it was him. I think it was the boosters.

Lane is the one who quit on the team. Imagine finally coaching a team to the highest level of the sport and then quitting on them when it was time to play the games.

The problem with Ole Miss is they actually believe the players and coaches hate Lane like the fans do.

Their 24/7 guys are gassing them up saying Lane gave everyone an ultimatum and nobody took it only to find out there was no ultimatum and the entire offensive staff got on the plane.

Now they’re confused because they have no staff and come crawling back to lane just to have someone to call plays.

The whole thing gets avoided if they swallow some pride and let lane finish the playoff. Now they look like absolute morons and liars.

Lane tried to do this in an Ole Miss visor but his imagination isn’t good enough. It’s a big reason why he left for LSU. doesn’t need to use his imagination there

True. If I was offered a better job with a higher ceiling, I would consider leaving as well. Wouldn't matter what project I was working on. I would give a two week notice though. He did give a notice and wanted to finish it out.

This seems like a pretty big frick-up. I understand his reasoning relating to trying to show stability to the CFP committee, but he has to know that Ole Miss is a loooooooooonnnnnnggggg shot to even make the CFP finals. I'm not sure potentially gutting your roster to preserve a 7 seed over a 9 seed is worth it.

Lane didn’t quit on the team. He was forced to leave before the playoffs. Your boosters had an emotional reaction and tried to force him to sign an extension against his will, and used the playoffs as a bargaining chip. And it almost cost you your entire offensive staff for the playoffs. You should thank Kiffin that it didn’t. Kiffin saved your arse.

I was under the impression that they did this to signal to the committee that everything has been wrapped up and is operating "as normal," so they wouldn't risk getting booted out of the playoffs (which is probably smart).

I don't think it necessarily means that Golding will be the actual coach next season.

Keith is aware of this. What are the terms of Pete’s permanent coaching contract? There aren’t any released because it has yet to be determined. He’s on interim status until the end of the playoff where he will then be made permanent head coach with full contract of employment.

As I’ve stated before you are dealing with dumb arrogant “lawyers” who think they are untouchable. They act like asses, make some of the dumbest decisions, and never think they are wrong.

These are the same people who claimed they would sue the NCAA when they were called out and investigated during the fall of Freeze. They are blinded by the fact Lane left them for LSU because they actually believe OM is a better job. You can’t fix this level of delusion.

I know you’re trolling. But it is very much a fact that Lane did not want to quit this playoff team.

This is a serious question and not intended to inflame. Would Ole Miss fans still be on board with giving Golding a 1 year contract if Ole Miss gets blown out in round 1 of the playoffs? Or would Ole Miss fans prefer to take a flyer on someone else?

No argument about how ole miss administration handled this situation. Just saying our oc is there, how is it any different to have lane finish the season?
