Could Bama save their playoff spot if BYU upset TT with a real close loss to GA?

Do you think the committee would drop Notre Dame out of the playoff instead of Bama if they lost a real close game to GA and BYU upset TT?

Alabama ended the season #1 in the SEC, toughest conference in the nation. I don't think they get left out.

I for one am looking forward to how the committee will spin it if they put Alabama ahead of ND.

"Well, even though Bama played a far tougher schedule than ND and came out with the same overall record, they didn't run the ball very well, but against EIU and AU, they had an aggregate of 8 rushing touchdowns and 427 yards, so they are better then ND now."

Clown show. They had no business being in front of Bama in the first place.

Alabama losing to Georgia is far from certain and in fact is probably at least a little unlikely

Yep Bama needs to beat GA to lock in the playoff and get a home game.

Would love to see a Bama at OU rematch. They would lose again

Honest question and not trying to start an argument....but if BYU beats Texas Tech, and Alabama loses to Georgia...who will they jump Alabama over to make the playoffs?

That said...I do not believe BYU has a chance to beat Texas tech...but that is the scenario this thread put forth, so who would Alabama jump to make the playoff?

Keep in mind you will have to have 1 ACC team and a G5 team make it in. (Is it fair? No.) But one team would have to drop out of the top 12 to make room for the G5 team. BYU would have to stay and either Duke or Virginia would have to go into the top 12 dropping Miami out. But that leaves Alabama being the lowest ranked team in the top 12 that COULD drop out to make room for the G5 team. Do you think the committee would drop a higher ranked ND team out after Alabama just lost?

That said...if the committee jumps Alabama over ND tonight, then Alabama could survive the loss. Tonight should tell us what the committee is thinking.

I doubt that would get Alabama a home game. I can't imagine them jumping up 6 spots in the rankings with that win.

Alabama should be ahead of ND already, imo.

They only need to move up to # 8 to get a home game which they should.

It wouldn't surprise me if they have Bama jump ND now wanting to avoid controversy if that scenario happened.

Bro...

if bama loses the seccg AND byu beats TT...there is a zero percent chance bama is in the playoffs.

If Bama beats Georgia, they might end up with one of the four byes as SEC champion.

It would likely be between them and Texas Tech or Oregon. I don't think they'd reward Oregon who is sitting at home this weekend. If Texas Tech loses and Bama wins, Bama would easily slide into the 4 spot. If they both win, it would get down to parsing out the schedules, who knows how that goes.

How wild is this? Going into the Championship week, Bama could come out as the #4 seed, or miss the playoff altogether.

That would take a Texas Tech loss. Don't forget that OSU and Indiana play this weekend as well. If one gets blown out, they could move down to #5.

Doubt see that myself. I think Oregon would have had to make their championship game and win it to pass Georgia.

Strongly doubt they drip either of them lower than 4 unless it’s a major blowout.

Y’all morons need to get over this delusion. Alabama just finished the regular season as the #1 team I. The best conference in college football. They now will play a team they have already beat this year for the SEC title. There is no possibility of Alabama not making the playoffs. None! That being said, I think Bama has NO problem beating UGA, again. I’m like our chances at winning the NC, as well. Y’all worry about your shitty bowl games, no need to worry about Alabama.
