Kiffin is a mercenary. Always has been, always will be. If you ...

hire him, understand that and be okay with it. He is not loyal to you. He also does not dislike you. He will simply go where he wants, based on what he thinks is best for him at any given time. While he is your coach, it is in his best interest to win games.
But never think there is anything other than that - what Lane Kiffin believes is what is best for him. If your school's interests align with his - great. If not, he will look around.
You should know that when you hire him. So deal with it. And his next team - same deal.

He could still stay at Ole Miss and prove everyone wrong.

He’s tied for the 15th longest tenured coach in the Power 4. Come up with a different narrative, because yours doesn’t hold water. And he would have stayed at USC had they kept him.

That's nothing to be proud of.
I wouldn't donate $1 for Kiffin if Smart quit tomorrow.
Whoever can have him and buy him out in 3 years.
It's only money.

He jumped ship 1 time early. 1 time.
He left a crappy Tennessee team for a better situation in California. He failed and went and rehabbed his image with Saban the went and showed he could do well at FAU and bolted for a better gig. Now he’s spent over half a decade in Mississippi and if all things hold will be leaving for another better gig.
Sucks for Ole Miss…. But they just don’t have the glamour of LSU or Florida, Bama, Texas, Ohio State, etc….
Remember…. He could have left Ole Miss for a historically better program in Auburn but he stayed. A man can only settle for so long before he has to get his when he can.

GoldenDawg ~ Captain Obvious
Seriously, GD, everything you said in your post applies to 100% of all coaches regardless of the level of football.
Pee Wee, middle school, high school, college, the NFL, all coaches go "where they want" and it is in their interest to "win games" at least it appears that way to me.

You can say this about any coach who isn't at their alma mater

Heres the thing, hes moved up. There is nobody in the SEC who could take him from LSU if hes succeeding enough for them to want him.
Ohio State? Maybe. NFL? Sure. But if those came calling then he did some serious shite at LSU.

Disagree. On every level of football, there are coaches that stay with teams based on something other than what's best for them.
It's rare, but it happens at every level.
And Lane Kiffin's level of 'me first' is also rare, even for big-time college football. He is uniquely selfish. Always has been, always will be. Understand that when you hire him, or understand you are going to be gob-smacked when he doesn't hold the same loyalty to your school as you do.
See: Ole Miss fan.

IN.
Seriously, if anybody thinks that's not true for all of them they're deluding themselves. The stripper doesn't actually want to bang you.

If he stays at LSU for 5 or 6 years and we give him the NIL money we're promising, he's going to win a playoff championship. If he wants to go to the NFL after, fine, thank you, good luck. It will be money well spent.

Kirby Smart finished out the year with Alabama after being hired by Georgia and Alabama managed to win a national championship.
Pruitt finished out the year with Alabama after being hired by Tennessee and Alabama managed to win a national championship.
Sark was hired by Texas over a week before the national championship game. He finished out the year with Alabama and managed to win a national championship.
Kiffin got hired by FAU and said he was going to finish out the year. Instead he was fired by Saban less than a week before the NCG because he was working on FAU recruiting and everything else instead of the NCG. Alabama lost the national championship game.
Doesn't seem to be 100% of all coaches to me. Seems to me he was the only one.

. . . he was fired by Saban less than a week before the NCG . . . Alabama lost the national championship game.
It looks to me that it was Saban who made the mistake. If he hadn't fired Kiffin a week before the NCG perhaps bama would have won.

He fired him because he wasn't doing his job.
But make whatever excuses you want, I just gave you the actual history. He was the only coordinator we had that was unable to finish his job after being hired by another school.

I'm too tired to look it up....but Kiffin gave an interview with
some mag , maybe S I ? , a few weeks before the game , where he
was somewhat critical and had not told Saban about it beforehand..
I think that was the real straw that broke his back with Saban..
It was an unusual relationship the two had but Kiffin would later say
Saban saved his career.....and I do think there's a good chance
the dismissal of Kiffin lost that NC for us.

I guess he has gone through the Ole Miss female student body and needs some strange.
