Coaching Availability

Here’s the simple truth.
Kirby is not going anywhere. Dude is at his dream job. He played for the bulldogs and now coaches them. He’s the current Top Coach in all of CFB and no amount of money would persuade him differently.
Coaches like Lanning aren’t leaving. He knows that with all of the NIL money available at his disposal, he won’t win Oregons FIRST National championship, but he also knows he has complete job security. And in our world today, that’s huge especially with false expectations that CFB programs have.
Not every school has the ability to win big time games, and NC’s consistently. Whether you’re Texas or Bama, it’s tough in today’s world. Just going to the playoffs gets you a raise and an extension. Take Elko. The Aggies have never been to the playoff. They have also never been to the SEC CG, and still may not go, but they give good bars for one good season in 20 years and love on hope.
Teams might take a shot in the dark and hedge their bets on unproven coaches like at USF, Tulane, etc.. and maybe it works out, but maybe it won’t. Most of the time it doesn’t and then they search for another.
Lane is in the bucket of great coordinators and good coaches that have done a lot of with limited resources and Lane will leave Ole Miss, one day, but not today or soon. As arrogant as he is, and as good as LSU and UF are and they are great programs that are committed to winning, Lane will stay at Ole Miss because he has his feet on the desk and nobody can tell him to take his shoes off.
Perception is what drives people which makes people selfish. Greed and the inability to just “be a team player, means nothing and the fans asked for it.
We asked for celebration dances after first down catches, and end the end, it gets us nothing more than a PI.
CFB is out of hand. There’s chaos, and soon, very soon, it will crash. Sports are rigged to a degree. Betting is out of hand. Players are betting on themselves, and on their opponents against themselves. If you don’t believe it, crawl out from under your rock. There’s no organization or pay for play, and what was our privilege has become a burden. The love of the game and the love of the sport is gone. Very few make it to Heaven. Very few win the big one. Very few enjoy the spoils.
There’s only one business left in the world. The money business. Ones and zeros. Profit and loss is what’s most important. Your house value goes up, your local market becomes unaffordable, but you’re happy. House values go down and become affordable, but you’re pissed because they took money out of your pocket. Nobody wins.
But Vegas and the Black Box

A&M had its hand forced. Do you let Elko go, or do you take a chance with a contract extension. Penn State offered him their job last week

90% of A&M's success right now is because of Elko. Yeah, you take a
"chance".
"chance".

The shite is going to hit the fan in the economy and especially the stock market.
People will be shocked by how much the market falls. This will have massive implications for wealth and spending. This will have massive implications onNIL and sports in general.

So you are saying we should all sell now?

Don’t disagree. I would too. But does it continue if you have an 8-4 season next year? You play Bama, Oklahoma, Tenner, @LSU and of course Texas. Are going to be on with a loss to Texas this year and a first round loss in the playoff.
How many years will Aggies be ok with no Conference championship and no national title.
There’s not enough 12th man stickers for 50 bucks to pay for a great coach or the best coach. Aggies will always be looked upon as a below average program overall in every sport not running in a circle on a track field.
I assume you’re ok with almost.

I would be reducing equity holdings, yes. Cash is king.
s&p held super important support today. Otherwise it was going down hard.

quote:A&M has more money than any program out there outside of Austin. Any of them. It takes more than just money as Fisher proved.

And you’ve proven money doesn’t mean shite.
And make no Mistake, Aggie alum is not what’s driving your money. It’s old oil money and federal benefits you get from the state. 10 years ago you got over a billion dollars from your states piggy bank.
And you’ve done nothing with it.
Texas A&M have no more money than hundreds of other schools willing and wanting to win at sports.

quote:Agreed that money isn't everything. If it were, the likes of Alabama would be an afterthought in college athletics. It does help if you want to keep your coach from leaving to another team, though.
