They trotted out their entire 2nd offensive and defensive teams against Michigan?

How far would Michigan move up if they won by 2 TDs?

I know this isn't going to happen, but let's say OhioSt did this scenario in the BigXCG vs Indiana instead. How far are they falling?? Even if Cignetti hung 70 against OhioSt's 2nd team Off/Def?

Would the committee punish OhioSt drastically for basically forfeiting?

Notre Dame would need to be consulted for the answer.

Pretty sure ND would just suggest making them #1 in the name of the father, the son, and TD Jesus.

If we did this and lost by 40 in the BIG Champ, I suspect we would fall to slots 5-8, and get a home playoff.

That assumes we beat Michigan.....no resting players ever in that game.

I think MI could go no higher than passing BYU.

I disagree. I think the committee wouldn't risk losing OSU in the 1st round. They'd drop them to 4.

3 if Aggie lost to BAMA in the SECCG.

So do you think Michigan is a playoff team if they beat OhioSt if they basically forfeited??

You don't understand life in Ohio or Michigan, if you think for a second we would forfeit anything to Michigan.

They went around last week asking people outside the stadium if they would rather beat Michigan this year or win another Natty.

About 40% said 'Beat Michigan' (non-scientific)

I'm a BAMA fan. I don't get rivalries?

It was just a hypothetical. But if you don't think it's possible, look at the NFL. Coaches aren't fired for losing rivalry games anymore. Or Day would be gone already.

Tensions were VERY HIGH last year after we lost the 4th in a row.
He is enjoying his Natty glow at the moment, but another couple losses to them would bring the heat level back up.

(of course I realize you understand, when was the last time y'all lost 4 in a row to Auburn?)

Right before Saban. We lost 6. Coach was fired but BAMA wasn't winning natties or winning 11-12 games per year during that stretch either.

Also... if your fans would rather beat Michigan than win a natty, you are definitely the auburn of the OhioSt/Mich rivalry and not the BAMA. Which means your program is defined by another.

That's pathetic.

This is the 4d chess move. Losing to Michigan would likely keep Ohio State in the top 4 guaranteeing a first round bye but a Michigan win would send them to the big ten championship game to face Indiana so Ohio State sits at home championship game weekend AND the first round of the playoffs.

I would take this path all day, regular season rivalry games mean very little in today's college football.

The committee would not push OhioSt out of the Top 4 in this scenario. Neither would any of the computers. If Michigan went on and beat IU they wouldn't fall out of the top 4 either.

Michigan would definitely make the playoff and have to play week one while the last two teams they beat sit home with a bye. It also all but guarantees the BigX 4 spots if Oregon wins out.

This is going to be the way whether we like it or not.

Best thing would be to take the rivalry games and move them to the beginning of the season. Play Michigan in week 1. That way it means something and neither team can frick around and forfeit like this year.

It won't matter....after 12 games against The University of The Crippled Blind Sisters Ohio State will be healthy and fresh and on track to lose a tight game to a SEC team in the playoff....its what they do.

I just think OhioSt has the opportunity to do a very amusing thing.

Play those 2nd stringers in the Michigan game.

Imagine the fall out. It would be legendary.
