Comparing the quality of play in the SEC this year to the quality of play of teams in other conferences IMO the SEC deserves to have these teams in the CFP ; Georgia, TAMU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Bama.
Prove me wrong…..

Auburn beats Bama, that would be two losses to subpar teams, plus a loss at home. 9-3 does not deserve it.

Vandy too. I would put them in over literally any ACC team.

Auburn will not beat Bama…… that is not in my anaylisis and I firmly believe Bama beats Auburn

Oklahoma is the one that I’m least confident in about being a playoff team. I heard a podcaster call them Crimson and Cream Iowa and they are 100% right. Your offense isn’t what I’d expect from a playoff team.
All that said, if you win out with the schedule you have this year, OU 100% should be a playoff team.
If bama loses to Auburn they shouldn’t be in.

Possibly. Politics will have a say

Vandy has a great QB and would beat any ACC team and probably every big 10 team not named OSU. But I assumed the one guaranteed spot was a given….So while Vandy will be better than some in the CFP I thought THE 5 SEC teams I listed were real choices for the CFP given the rules…

Too far to call the analogy Iowa. OU is not happy with the offense mistakes but Mateer is recovering and improving and showed that the Sooners can beat #4 on #4’s home field in a crucial game with the offense they do have. Even this years OU offense is better than anything Iowa has ever had… and Iowa has never had a defense and ST like this years OU team….. if Mateer had played like he did versus Bama when playing TexASS and Miss , OU would be undefeated….

It depends on the losses.
If FSU is one of those, then the team definitely deserves to sit out. However, if we take Texas as an example and say that they annihilate Arkansas and A&M, they should be in the conversation. But again, a bad loss - Florida - could bite them.

IMO TexASS is out of the CFP

OU and Bama need to win out, I am not sold on OU offense or gumps run game. Both of them have been blasted by a non playoff caliber team this season, if they go 9-3 it wouldnt be unfair to leave them out

The difference is Iowa has 3 losses including to Iowa State and has beaten absolutely no one near the Top 25. Iowa has played some teams close. So has Auburn, State, UF, USC, and even freaking Kentucky. You have to actually beat someone and OU has some true quality wins. Damnit I hate someone making me defend OU.

I’m not saying you’re Iowa this year. Their offense is better than IU’s and OU’s defense is better than theirs.
I’m saying this year your defense is elite and your offense is dog crap bad. Kinda like Iowa has been over the past decade.

First off, OU definitely isn't my defense because frick OU. Second, I was wrong. Iowa has 4 losses now but they do have that amazing win over Minnesota to hang their hat on. I pointed out several SEC teams that are much more like Iowa.

Yes, I'm just saying that they are more deserving. I can't wait until they ditch this auto-bid nonsense and just go with the top 12.

Even within the autobid rules the SEC should have 5 in the CFP this year IMO…
But yes an autobid to James Madison University while leaving out a top 10 team is stupid…
When ND is dropped for JMU the shyyyte hits the fan ….too many ND supporters in the media for that to stand..
