Allowed 870 yards in the last 6 quarters to Boston College and NC State. Just let Boston College drive 95 yards on the last drive of the first half like they were the frigging 2007 Patriots.
15th out of 16 teams in yards per play allowed in the ACC.

that's why I'm not as worried about the game this year given our offense is so solid this year.

Their defensive line is very good, but our offensive line play has actually been excellent this year despite us being extremely injured this year. We are like a top 10 CFB OL in PFF season grades. Their secondary is bad and very gettable. Make them tackle Branch and others in space, test the field deep with Lucky Delp and Bell. We will win
Also just a slight bit of perspective and pushback NC State has like the number 3 or something pass offense in all of CFB, but they’re the single worst running team

I think we win too. I’m mostly talking about things like advanced metrics and PFF grades here, not traditional counting stats. It’s an attempt to get at the worth of one position group without it being dragged down by another. They’re not perfect but worthwhile imo

You genuinely seem knowledgable and I'm not trying to push back against anything you just posted, but Tech's D also is 15th in the ACC in rushing yards allowed, says here.

I’m not sure what that has to do with what I said, I was speaking about NC States rushing offense not their rushing defense. Also their pass offense and not pass defense sorry if I didn’t make that clear.
There our ways their defensive line can be very good, doing their assignments, and not really look good or get praise for it because the secondary play has been so bad and the LB play very average. That’s all I was trying to get too. It’s the same thing with our OL and then having a high grade. It’s not really fair when they commit their assignments perfectly and Bowens whiffs a block totally allowing Stockton to get murdered or Frazier completely misses his running lane trying to be Deandre Swift against AU at all times.

I don’t think Kirby Smart has ever lost to a top 10 team at home. Bama was technically outside the top 10 I think at game time this year. I know this is arbitrary but it speaks to the swagger confidence and culture you carry yourself with. I personally don’t believe Texas posses it the same way UGA do, at least not yet. They’ll have to prove that

Thread hijack but I agree. I think we handle them easily. Defense is slightly improving I think. Kirby seems to have a bead on sark offense. They will probably score some early but we pull away.

As I told someone earlier who didnt want to hear it melting down about the defense.
The truth is simply this. We are the 29th defense in all CFB which isnt including just p4 but like 120 something teams in PPG and number 2 in 2nd half PPG.
This looks and sounds bad because it is dramatically worse than some of the school best history defining defenses we just went through. This team has been learning on the go a lot and improving and finding ways to win. I think theyre getting better. This is what you want to see and the way good teams are they begin to rise and peak in november

I still really like their QB. I hope he is a senior or NFL eligible and comes out. He is one gutsy brawler. Similar to Vanderbilts QB

He’s in his 6th year. Also I think buster faulkner gets poached. It’s do or die for tech this year bc I can see them regressing in 2026. I wish I could read their sting talk message board. They sure seem cocky there still after their near loss to 1-9 BC but I can only see their thread titles.
