Our defense has a chance to take the leap to elite status this week.

We need to shut them down.

DeBoer can improve his record when having a preparation disadvantage to 2-2 today with a win.

That would make me feel a lot more comfortable about his ability to overcome the SEC’s annual mission to punish Bama with as many teams off bye weeks as possible.

We can do this. Crush these guys. Secure the SECCG game bid and potentially the playoff. Let’s roll!

How would it seal the deal for us?

If we lose against Auburn and Ole Miss wins out would they not get in over us?

We are in IF Georgia beats Texas and if we beat Oklahoma.

If Georgia loses and we lose then Ole Miss just has to win out.

No.

Our conference opponents winning percentage is higher than Ole Miss and Georgia's so we get in in a 3-way tie. We actually get in over A&M if they drop a game, too.

Negative, Ghostrider.

SEC Championship Game Simulator

If both Georgia and Alabama lose today while Ole Miss wins out we would still be in.

ETA:

1. Texas A&M (8 - 0)
2. Alabama (7 - 1)
Above Ole Miss based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4844).
3. Ole Miss (7 - 1)
Below Alabama based on conference opponent win percentage (0.3281).
4. Texas (6 - 2)
Above Georgia and Oklahoma based on round-robin record due to a round-robin sweep (2-0).
5. Oklahoma (6 - 2)
With Georgia, below Texas based on round-robin record due to a round-robin sweep (0-1).
Above Georgia based on conference opponent win percentage (0.5313).
6. Georgia (6 - 2)
With Oklahoma, below Texas based on round-robin record due to a round-robin sweep (0-1).
Below Oklahoma based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4844).

The solution to this is to let the conference set full 12-game schedule and not hand the teams 8/9 games with open dates to fill in their 3/4 OOC games. Ultimately, the SEC could just fricking stop putting the open date choice in front of our game with opponent so much because these chicken shite ADs are going to choose to be open before playing that crimson helmet with numbers on it.

The reason the SEC should control this is because we’ve got one 3rd party to advocate at instead of letting this screw job being some federated frickery.

Just have to win either AU or OU and everything is locked in.

Of course that’s easier said than done.

Having to go to Auburn with our playoff lives on the line is a scary thought. They have nothing to lose and will go balls to the wall.

Yep. Win one of those and we are in. Win both and playoff berth. Win SEC probably number 2 instead of 4-6.

I would love to see Ty hit a couple of long throws vs the OU defense. He has missed by inches pretty consistently. We need those because I don't think we will be able to sustain many drive against their defense. This is tops on my wish list this week. Second would be a couple of timely turnovers by OU in plus territory for Bama. A guy can hope.
