That Mississippi state is still in the SEC. They are Vanderbilt but with way shittier academics located in a way shittier town.

Ironically, Mississippi State was ranked #1 in the first ever CFP rankings. They have been very competitive in football at times. Between 2013 and 2022 they finished ranked 4 times, had a winning record 7 seasons, and finished with 9 wins or more 4 times.
They got blindsided by Leach’s sudden death.
They are typically good at baseball and women’s bball. Men’s basketball won the western division 5 times from 2001-2010. And they have made the NCAA tourney the last three seasons.
It isn’t fair to judge their current football program only 3 seasons after Leach’s death.
Your critique of them is not really accurate.

They played in the SEC championship game in 1998... There are a few schools in the SEC that have never played in that game. State isn't one of them.
