…Sumrall being more realistic doesn’t count.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be over the moon if we get Sumrall. Just not getting why Brohm isn’t getting much buzz, and if I’m in charge he would definitely have to tell me no before I hired Sumrall. Convince me why I’m wrong.

I think Brohm has been getting a decent bit of talk. Maybe not out in the media as much. They're lazy and they've locked onto the Sumrall talking point.

You get better info from people's dentists and bird house makers and its more fun discussion.

Sumrall's Defense is pretty horrid this year.

He cant be our number 1.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but Tulane lost a lot of defensive players to graduation, bigger schools, and the NFL Draft. Some were difference makers

Players Tulane lost on Defense

So he has a hard time replacing talent? Not a good look in the portal world.

Age maybe.

He’s 54. Kind of a jerk as well. Not sure he would play the Auburn politics.

Most here think Charles Kelly is to old at 58.

He’s outside the mold most think here.

Durkin - 47
Sumrall - 43
Dilly - 35

Better familiarity with the SEC and the state of Alabama. Better contacts with High School coaches in the state of Alabama.

Sounds like Saban coming to uat. Let me coach, and be happy with the results. I think Auburn PTB are finally desperate enough to swallow their pride, just like the uat good ole boys were.

Age at 54 cant be mich of an issue. That should be a good 10 year tenure at least

I think one reason is that Brohm is a Louisville native and a UofL alum. Maybe he's happy being at his alma mater and in his hometown. Not sure he's ever expressed that or not, but it seems to be a prevailing theory that once a coach is at his alma mater (Key, Brohm, etc.) that it is much more difficult to get them to leave. Add in hometown with family all nearby it may make it that much harder.

Saban played the powers that be at bama. How you think he got so many chargers. How do you think he got the number 1 recruiting class the first 3 years he was at bama.

Granted Saban’s power over the program grew over the years but he did the politics of bama.

Brohm is Harsin with a few more connections to the South. Very good coach just a pompous a-hole

Brohm has landed some big recruits, so he must know how to play the game. Unlike Haskins

It certainly would appear he did this year....

Now, does that mean they're young, this year, and need time to develop, or just horrible evaluations? I really don't follow Tulane, closely, enough to make either assertion.

Honestly no one truly knows how well someone will do until they get them on the job, Hugh was supposed to be great with QBs with Kent Austin at his side, and that was proven wrong.

Brohm just doesn’t get me jazzed. Don’t seem to fit AU

Only Auburn people say that this, no other team. That’s how you end up with Freeze, etc., because they “fit”. The hell with hiring the best coach you can get! Give me that fresh fit.

Now if Brohm was a weirdo like Kelly, you might have a point.

We need competence to be the number one priority.

"The fit" that they're talking about is really will the candidate's personality clash with the boosters. Who give a frick.

The candidate has to recruit and show competence on the field. If they do that then the boosters need to shut up and they will shut up.

They will be happy when the winning happens, and they will support. Like I said, uat PTB needed to watch their program get their teeth kicked in for a while, and then they decided that winning was more fun than having things their way. From what I’m hearing, Auburn PTB are in that place finally and will support whoever as long as they win.

I just don’t think Brohm is overly impressive. I’ll pass. We need a younger guy too.

I hope Durk has the team playing well these last 3 games. I’d like to see him earn the job. I like his intensity and attention to detail.
