I don’t think so. There isn’t a next Saban. Not right now anyway. Smart isn’t even the next Saban. I don’t think it’s irrational to hope for a good coach who will bring success though. Isn’t that part of being a fan?

What may initially be seen as disappointment may turn out to be ecstasy.
Also…. What may initially be seen as a major coup may turn out to be a serious let down.
We won’t know for at least 2 to 3 years.

Are you reading the same boards that I am? LSU fans are all over the place. Some want Kiffin, others don't. Outside of that it's everyone from Jon Sumrall to Joe Brady to Kelvin Sheppard. It's a good thing LSU fans aren't making this decision.

I liked the Nick Saban HC - Kelvin Sheppard Co-HC idea. I'm sure Nick would be fine that.
