First, you are an idiot.
I should not respond but sometimes people need help understanding things.
1. Mississippi law limits contracts to four years. Which is actually really smart and efficient given the ridiculous amounts of money being thrown around these days.
2. Anybody with a half a brain knew that Lebby had job in front of him that was going take 3-4 years to get State back to where we were. Especially given tumultuous situation that we were put in after Coach Leach’s death.
3. Anybody with a fourth of a brain can see the progress the team is making this year compared to last year. Sometimes things go beyond wins and losses. And this team is going to break through this year and beat somebody they are not supposed to.

So there it is. Please digest the above and go crawl under rock somewhere.

Need some salve for your butt?

Our program is NOT a 3-4 year restoration job but it will be with a bumbling moron as our coach.

Sherrill had us winning in Year One
Mullen and Leech had us winning in Year Two. And neither of them made the kind of boneheaded calls in crucial games in ALL their years that Lebby has made in crucial games this season. Florida was our BEST and LAST chance to get a conference road win and his play calling lost us the game, pure and simple.

But please feel good about the Almost Wins he racks up.

That is normal for any HC that is new being a HC. Give him time. I am nervous about Mizzou playing MSU later this season.

Can you then explain Arnett only getting a 1-2 year deal? That kind of pokes a hole in your argument.

Mullen and Leach inherited a far, far better situation than Lebby. That’s a fact

I hate I’m even having to type this but our roster last year was a mid level MAC team. This year we at least look like a mediocre SEC team. If you were expecting us to be 6-1 at this point you are dumb. We are 4-3 with two close losses that could’ve gone either way. Yes, Lebby made a dumb decision to call a pass play against Florida but we also had receivers running wide open all game and our 24 y/o 6th year senior QB didn’t find them. His offense works and you can give him shite for giving Shapen the reigns again.. We are unfortunately in the situation that we have to let him learn on the job

Again, Lebby may not be the guy but what in the hell did you expect to happen this year. Watch the season play out then make this thread.

You expect less and it is what you get.
Should MSU win against Texas this weekend, guys like you will go tear the goalposts down and think we're playing for the national championship in 2026.
At best, Lebby gets this team to 5-7. Most likely the team finishes 4-8.
And quit blaming Shapen for Lebby's stupid play calling. At least you admit that Lebby blew it against a 2-4 Florida team. Nothing like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The Lebby way!

Arnett

That's where MSU screwed up. You had recruited for the Air Raid for three years and then promoted Arnett and let him clean house on offense and take a 180 stylistically? On one hand you don't want to be the AD that tells their coach who they can hire...but at a minimum you have to tell a guy in that particular situation "Hey we're going to promote you but the one condition is you have to keep the offense we've been recruiting to. Wan't to change staff? Go for it but you have to stay with the Air Raid."

I am far from a poor ole state fan but I am a realist. I didn’t storm the field for ASU either but I’m older and past that anyway.

I think we win 1-2 more we are likely in agreement there but did you expect Lebby to win 8-9 games with one of the hardest schedules in college football?

Do you not agree Shapen missed multiple wide open receivers? For the third damn time I don’t know if Lebby is the guy but he schemed open receivers all game against that Florida defense and his veteran QB missed em. You can give Lebby shite for bringing Shapen back but a lot of coaches probably would’ve done the same given our situation.

There is enough out there to see a scenario where Lebby works out given what he has had to rebuild and deal with. Our NIL fundraising is on the rise with Selmon. For gods sake we spent 13-15 million on this team with nothing to sell. Imagine what we could do with some momentum. I’m willing to give Lebby that chance

Hiring Arnett was the fault of AD John Cohen. He was leaving MSU at the end of 2022 to go be Auburn's AD and didn't want to do a thorough coaching search. He simply promoted Zach Arnett, with his reasoning being that he didn't want to lose Arnett to another program. It was a lame excuse and a lazy excuse.

The bottom line is MSU's football program will never have winning consistency with on-the-fly hiring decisions for coaches or getting someone "on the cheap." Looks like this last option is where we are now.

If we keep this guy, it will be like Croom Part II. But hey, I got MS State posters on here, telling me this is what they want. It is why we are who we are now.

You are dumb. We don’t want this but are you suggesting we just fire Lebby and hire who? No coach worth a frick would even consider coming to state at that point.

“Well, these SOB’s just fired a coach after year two walking in to a god dam cluster frick after an unprecedented death of a legendary coach”

We have no choice. We have to let Lebby figure it out or we let him go after next year

In looking at the schedule before 2025, there were at least 6 winnable games, possibly 7 with the team we had coming back. That would have given the team a bowl bid and attracted some blue chip recruits. But now, I don't see us winning another game. And should we eek out a win over Texas, the remaining teams on our schedule are going to stomp us in the ground.
Lebby lost me last Saturday and I imagine he lost a good bit of the team as well. Smart coaches don't make the kind of decision he made and then expect the excuse "I wanted 6-7 more yards" to be accepted. And for this fan, it wasn't.
He's paid to win. Period!
