Not sure how much it has been discussed on here but Daniel Hill has shown me something...

Hi all, sorry if this has been hashed out a lot already but I must say that when Daniel Hill has had the opportunity to play with a meaningful amount of carries, he has impressed me. He has some Derrick Henry-esque attributes just from what I have seen . He might be the type that excels in games vs practice because it seems clear to me he has more of an upside the other RBs don't quite have. Thoughts?

I was thinking this. Not quite as big as Henry, but close. I wasn’t a big fan of his up until Saturday night though. Something looked different about him. I read he’d been battling some injuries earlier in the year. Maybe he’s just finally healthy

He looked just as fast as Jam or Kevin too, I think he's got to get more burn.

His carries are going up and Riley's are going down. I do not think he will supplant Jam Miller.

Frankly, Jam Miller got some incredibly poor blocking on his early carries. These weren't plays where he read it wrong. These were plays where we had enough men to get a hat on a hat but one blocker got their arse beat badly. Additionally, he had at least one rush where we didn't have numbers but the numbers were advantageous to the play side but someone didn't get into the linebacker who sliced through to tackle him in the backfield. Half - or there about - of his rushes were dead on arrival.

So I disagree with folks who say he needs to replace Miller. Reality of it is that Hill got a lot of 2nd half snaps (probably a good idea given his physicality) and got better blocking than Jam got in some of those first half carries.

Yes he just seemed to add a spark to the run game, and that seems to be the case a couple of games already. Maybe it's because he makes more of an appearance with fresh legs later in games but I certainly would try to incorporate more of a work load on him and give him a chance to thrive from what he has shown so far.

Coach Grubb said Daniel Hill has been dinged up before he started seeing time versus Mizzou.

Here’s his press conference from last week, before the TSIO…….

Wow, so when he is 100% he might even make a bigger impact. Yeah I first began to notice him in the Mizzou game I believe, he does just seem to have that "it" factor when he has had touches. I'd really like to see him get more of a load. Sometimes the game-play can bring the best out of an RB in particular.

He's been dinged up but now seems to be getting healthy, hence getting more touches in the last two games. I'd like to see more of him in the first half of games and let that 245 lb frame help out with the running game. Don't get me wrong, it was great having him come in in the second half and finish off the defense but we've got to get our running game going better than what it has if we want to truly make a championship run. He is a very big back and alternating between him and Jam keeps Jam fresher and also forces the defense to tackle a tree trunk for the entire game.

I'm not sure who he reminds me of. It ain't Derrick Henry. Maybe a bigger TJ Yeldon? Hell, maybe Jalston Fowler.

we've got some real flavor of the week stuff going on at RB this season.

Jam is still RB1 and he should be. He had nowhere to run against UT's front on Saturday.

Hill came in later in that game when UT's d was worn out. He did look good though, and that is encouraging.

I think that Jam, Riley, and Hill are all fine RBs, and we are in good shape with those 3. Dear is the most talented of the bunch, and I'd love to see him in the mix, but I totally get why we haven't seen much of him yet.

Hill has a lot going for him. He's not a breakaway threat, but he's athletic, can pass block, and he's a good receiver.

He couldn't stay healthy last season , and has been dinged up part of this season. I hope he can stay healthy the rest of the way.

Great observation...Derrick Henry never caught as well as Hill has already in this game...shitty comparison on my part!
