Brent Venables is a clown. His record at OU is now 27-18 with a conference record of 15-17. He has 0 touchdowns in 3 games vs Texas. He is 0-3 in bowl games. He consistently has the worst offense in college football.
This season Oklahoma is going 5-7 or 6-6. What is our fan base’s obsession with the moron? Why does he get every excuse?

Agreed. Don't be like Florida and just accept mediocrity.
Someone should snatch up Alex Golesh from USF. He would be a nightmare with real blue chip talent to deal with.

This thread was so predictable. Went from 5-0 “playoff contenders” to “fire Venables” in 1 week.

Venables is not head coach material. He's best as a DC only.

I have no dog in the hunt because I really don’t care about OU or what they do, but he doesn’t strike me as a HC “winner”…. Whatever that means, TIFWIW

Agreed. I don’t like Venables (I actually really want y'all to keep him), but in his defense the offensive line has been obliterated by injuries the past 2 years and y'all have had 3 different OCs over the past 4 years.

Injuries and OC's are just more excuses. There is always an excuse for Venables losses.

If you Oline is trash you are not doing NIL very well. But 2 years in a row is inexcusable. Venebles is DC LARPing as a HC. Put him with Bob Petrino and a strong practice manager at HC with a GM running NIL and you would really have something.

the 2026 recuriting class is the lowest ranked class OU has ever had, so it aint getting any better

It's all about the oline and Mateers health. Should not have trotted him out there last week. OU has 2 5 star freshman on the oline and they are learning but need some help. Venables currently has the #1 class for 2027. Will he be here to see it? Who knows
