We have a real problem at rb. He is by far the best pure runner.

I assume he can't protect the qb.

I agree, you gotta have guys that can run with vision and not just run into the backs of your blockers. Jam had a little of that.

Jam is a very mediocre. Average runner. Good guy. Great competitor. Well below the Bama standard.

He’s behind like four other guys. He may be our best pure runner but there’s a lot more to it.

If teaching a RB to block and to better understand the playbook, then Henry would’ve played earlier

But it’s not. It’s very possible he just won’t play much this year

I've been saying this for weeks.

I don't know how it's possible that he's literally last on the depth chart. There's no way he's that bad at blocking.

Put him in there, and give him the damn ball if he can't block.

Our RBs suck.

Henry SHOULD'VE played earlier.

But he was also sitting behind some future NFL starting RBs.

We've got a bunch of mediocre guys who won't get much draft attention at all.

AK Dear is the only legit back on the roster.

Considering we haven’t had a long breakaway run against a decent team for 4 seasons, this is not a running back issue.

ETA: We had one against Texas in 2022, but that’s the last one I recall.

Who knows if it is or isn't.

The only other common denominator is our RBs coach. Given the lack of production at that position alone under Gillespie, he should be given the boot.

It could be a combination of the two. I remember we had Jahmyr Gibbs at RB and still couldn't find a running game.

Our O line gave up 4 sacks to Missouri.

Daniel Hill should be RB2.

Kevin Riley is just too small for the SEC

I've only seen Deer carry vs a tired Monroe team. Its a lot different vs a rested SEC defensive line.

Yeah I think it's clear Riley doesn't have the size needed for this conference. He runs hard, and he's got some quickness, but just not an SEC caliber back.

RB2 should be Dear. Dear reminds me of Yeldon.

We had one against Michigan in the 2023 first round playoff game.

Gibbs had several in 2022.

Against Arkansas, but still. It’s been a while. We need some gaps and we need a running back with overdrive.

Riley could be a very good third down back similar to James White when he was with the Patriots. You just have a build a package for him and commit to him being that back for you.

I havent looked at the numbers but it seemed like we ran the ball really well today before Jam went out.
