If tweet fails to load, click here. Wasn’t even reviewed. I think it’s probably an int, but I admit it’s hard to tell for sure.

Catch.
AGGIE didn't control it through the action to the ground. At best, dual possession at the end of the play and tie goes to the receiver, unless you are Michael Williams.

I don't know. The more I look at it, focusing on the ball and Lee's arm around it, the more I think he was robbed of an amazing interception.

the WR always gets the benefit of the doubt in that situation. Its just how it is. Its a catch.

If I'm not mistaken this footage is not from the broadcast but footage recorded by an Auburn staffer.
The game footage didn't have this angle so even if reviewed it's likely they didn't have the look that we do here. The play would stand as called on the field and the refs didn't have this angle of visibility either. It is what it is but highlights the blanket "tie goes to the receiver" rule has it's pitfalls.

Unless you’re in Tuscaloosa on November 5, 2011.

Objectively the biggest and most game-changing blown call in the series, which is why it's so odd that that particular fanbase cries the most about muh refs.

And, not a single billboard went up.

idk I thought that was the right call. Williams never really had possession of it, and it ended up in Reid's hands. Wasn't a dual possession situation like the play in the OP.

I remember where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing when this atrocity occurred.

I remember when it was objectively reviewed ad nauseum after the game and found to be the right call, as the ball was dead as soon as Jones touched it while out of bounds.
Williams had sole control with his back on the ground. Again, at best, a moment of dual control, which goes to the receiver.

I’m sure that you do, like many on your side. And that tells us so much about your fan base if you think that was the pinnacle of screwjobs. The blown call in the GOTC cost Bama the game. This play you want to harp on was basically inconsequential in comparison.

Defender should have focused on knocking the ball out

Can't believe Bama is still melting about the Game of the Century loss in Tuscaloosa. But muh refs...

Controlled the ball all the way down until his back hit the ground, at which point Reid ripped it out.

Your team finished with 254 total yards of offense, 13 first downs, and recorded only 4 first downs in the entire 2nd half. Only 1 first down in the 4th quarter. You lost the game by two possessions.
But that call was more game-changing than the Redzone INT call in 2011 in a game that went to OT and ended with a final score of 9-6?
Lmaaaaooooooooooooo

During the 2014 Iron Bowl where a similar play happened, the announcers stated that if it's judged that both have possession of the ball but both are in the air, the player who lands first with a foot inbounds is considered the possessor...not sure if that's the actual rule or not though...

it was moving around in his hands though.

Led to Auburns only offensive scoring drive. A FG
