Or that Sam was holding him back in areas because the “defense was gassed” (actual line he used about Briles and Odom, I believe). And instead of making T Will get them in shape or run a more basic defense so they aren’t out of space, he held the offense back.

Million and one things can actually be true.

This is my guess. I bet the offense looks slightly different next game as I remember Sam saying that while he was giving control of the offense to Petrino he’d still make the call about certain things.

The Sam decisions were pretty obvious. No more 4th and 1 fifty yard field goal attempts.

That's why the defense cranked up the efficiency and started letting people score in 8 plays instead. They were just trying to help.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I’ve believed it since he was running towards Briles. Briles had already taken his head set off and ran a quick play in the goal line and Sam had wanted to milk the clock for no reason. They scored in like 3 plays and Odoms teams were not conditioned for back on the field quickly, imo.
