Give an example in each category

1. Top tier coach- the coach you can only dream about for Auburn.

2. Respectable hire but not great

3. Will do until somebody better can be found

4. Oh hell no!

Honestly I would put no one in the 1 category just because there are so many things that can factor in. There are no perfect coaches.

There are probably 15-20 coaches that fall in number 2 but would they leave their current job. Most probably not.

The 3rd category would be someone like Jeff Grimes, Kyle Wittingham, etc.

From the 2nd category there are probably 4 that would be on our list. DJ Durkin promotion, Drink, summerall, lashlee.

You have some seriously weird dreams.

To answer the OP, I don't know but I expect the next highly sought after coach (not necessarily Auburn's) will be someone we've never heard of. We all regurgitate the same names but every year, a new name does really good things and becomes the new, highly sought after coach. We need smart people to find the guys. Unfortunately, we don't have smart people these days.

If a coach is successful enough to be the head football coach at Auburn, most of us will have heard of him.

Kirby.

And we could have had him from what I've heard some say. They just couldnt/wouldn't accept the idea of him finishing out the season at Bama and simultaneously being the AU head coach.

I chose to look at vs Texas A&M
0-13 third down efficiency
0-4 fourth down efficiency
5 sacks given up

52 rushing yards We were once RBU

I chose to look at vs Oklahoma
3-15 third down efficiency
1-3 fourth down efficiency
9 sacks given up

67 rushing yards

Vs the SEC
3-28 third down efficiency 10.7%
1-7 fourth down efficiency 14%
averaging 7 sacks given up a game.

64 yards rushing average

Someone needs to inject some Aubnurn Pride and history and run game into this team. He has a better winning percentage against A&M than Freeze and he had to do it with Harsin's team. We ran for 270 yards against them under Cadillac.

There is zero indication that there is even a single NCAA program of any relevance that has any interest in Cadillac Williams as a coach. He was coaching in HS at IMG Academy in 2017, then was coaching in the freaking AAF in 2018, and then he was gifted the Auburn RB job in 2019 because of his history with the school (despite having zero resume). He hasn't held a single job at any other NCAA school of relevance despite being 43 years old.

After he stepped down at Auburn, there was no smaller school that wanted him as the HC or even as the OC (which shouldn't be surprising, but we had all sorts of silly fans that thought he should get a chance at being the OC for some inexplicable reason). He then took a job with the Raiders as the RB coach, but was fired within a year this past February, and since then I can't see any indication of him coaching anywhere. Sure, its likely too late to get another NCAA gig at that point, but what interest does he have right now?

Guys - the University of South Alabama wouldn't hire Cadillac as their HC if the job opened up tomorrow. When Freeze inevitably gets canned, please for the love of god do not start an internet campaign to anoint Cadillac Williams as the next HC.
