Despite having a multiyear head start and coming off a final 4 appearance when Nate Oats entered the league, the best coach in the history of AU basketball didn’t have a winning record against Oats for even a single day. Not one single time.

The best team in AU history will now go down as the team that choked on senior night cementing Bruce’s 5-7 losing career record to Nate Oats.

P.S. Bruce Pearl was a great coach and worthy competitor. Well done, Bruce, you made basketball fun in this state.

Auburn really is the most pathetic athletic program in the entire SEC.

You'd think Bama would be appreciative of Pearl, who without question was the reason for the rejuvenation of their basketball program.

You can draw a direct line between Pearl and Bama getting to a Final Four.

One thing I’ll miss about Pearl is besides being Auburn’s advocate, he was also the SEC’s advocate. Nearly every time he made a media appearance last year he would hammer on the point of how good the conference is and how far it’s come.

Gonna miss that.

I don’t know, Bama and AU are both only a loss or two away from being basketball season as well. AU may not be as excited about that now, though.

This talking point is so fricking stupid. Yea Alabama was motivated to hire Nate Oats, coach of Buffalo and 4 years removed from HIGH SCHOOL, to compete with Bruce Pearl, who at that time was 89-60 at Auburn and had just won a 2nd round tournament game for their first 2nd weekend in 16 years.

Yea that’s why Alabama rejuvenated their bball program…

Auburn’s a consistent contender and made it to more Final Fours under Pearl compared to Oats, I’m sure they’re crying all the way to the bank that they have a losing record against Oats bammer lmaooooo

All the bammers chirping all last season that 2025 was their year, reserving hotel rooms for the Final Four, only to get blown out by Duke in the Elite 8

At least you admit it. The firing of your coach that led to Oats was the direct cause of Pearl.

You're welcome.
