Got a buddy that's going up to NW Arkansas for a few days to deal with Walmart. It's been 20 years since I lived in state. What's the best BBQ joint up there nowadays? Is Fox Trail Distillery worth visiting? He's a big whisky guy.

I've been told by reliable folks that Wright's in Johnson is the best. I haven't been there because to hell with Johnson.
If Fox Trail ever opens on Sunday afternoon, I'll stop in there too. Yes, I'm old.

Wrights is good.
Can’t go wrong with Penguin Ed’s on the S curves.
Some like Sassys.

Yes. Wrights is very good. There is also on in Bentonville if he's up there instead. Penguid Ed's is fine, but I dislike their ribs (they don't remove the membranes last time I checked, so they're tough to eat). Sassy's is alright. Their turkey is probably the best meat they do.
An underrated current player, in my opinion, is the City Park BBQ truck in Fayetteville that is only open on the weekends. Really surprised me how good it was last time I had it.
Of course, there's now a Rudy's in Fayetteville now as well. I haven't tired it, as I"m kind of opposed to big chain, BBQ, but a lot of people seem to like it.

Wright's is incredibly good BBQ. The original location in Johnson is closed for a while for remodeling and utility improvements in the area, but the Rogers location is not only much closer to Walmart HQ but is just as good.
Fox Trail is decent. I really like their gin (they sell it at Sam's Club) but I've never tried any of their whiskey nor have I ever been to their actual distillery but know several people who have and had a good time.

Ironically, Johnson currently has some of the better restaurants in NWA:
Wrights, Pizzeria Ruby, Hail Fellow Well Met, and La Media Luna are all really solid. It's bizarre that they're all in Johnson. I guess it's due to lower rent and proximity to the interstate.

It's punishment for me saying I'll never spend money there. Coming soon to Johnson, the best brew pub, strip club and gilf bar.

Had a few too many speeding tickets there?

Yes, go to Wright's. Johnson location is under construction. I like the Rogers location. I love everything there. Their ribs are incredible too.
Don't bother with the others mentioned.
Fox Trail will have some good drinks, make sure they are open.

Another vote for Wrights. Only thing I don't care for there is the green beans everything else is amazing, and I cook bbq as a side gig so I'm a very picky BBQ guy

Wright's Baked Beans are hit or miss. Often too sweet.

They finally realized that business and development is a better way to raise revenue.
In the last five years it’s like a light switch flipped and it’s been growing like crazy.

Hasn’t there been big upset about it being gentrified?

That would be hilarious if true.
A BBQ, a dozen strip malls, and an EZ Mart is pretty fancy.
Seems a pretty good transition between Fayetteville and Springdale to me!

I can see those little cheap arse faux modern homes on Wilkerson street really rubbing Johnson folks the wrong way.

I believe it is, have a cousin married to a black dude who lived there and she was bitching they were driving up the prices etc… and her claim was it was because they didn’t want black people there anymore.
I said it couldn’t be because they wanted to make money from something other than speeding tickets?

Appreciate y'all. They made it to Wrights and he loved it.

Wrights is the only answer, save your money on Penguin Rd's. Like Fox Trail is great. Tontitown Winery is fun.

I really don’t get the Wrights hype, just ok and expensive
