Kirby's old school like Vince Dooley when it comes to critique of his team. I don't think he really meant we got outplayed; he meant we played sloppy and he would've said that no matter how Tennessee played. Pass defense has to improve at every level, starting with knowing your assignment, and that's Kirby's specialty. He knows these guys can do a lot better, so they'll hear no praise from him in the next two weeks.

Good and bad luck happens on every play of the game. Deciding which bit of luck decided the outcome is a mental exercise for fans, not coaches. Kirby was emphasizing to his team that they have a lot of work to do before the next game. If Heupel's a good coach he's sending his team the same message; we didn't play well enough. Show me a coach who says "We should've won" and I'll show you a loser.
