Seattle Times Tribute

For those who missed this last season.

Perfectly encapsulates what we've seen from this offense the last two years and specifically Saturday.

So we are looking at 20-25 carries a game if things are going right.
Crowell will be the last big time high school running back we sign.

Well, odds are he’s not very good anyways, given how many of these recruits are panning out

Seems like weve had a steady streak of 4/5 stars for years and they have mostly sucked

I’m okay with making the rb position a portal position. Especially in this offense but it needs to be better than the one we got this year.
Come to think of it, I believe Washington only had one “good” rb with deboer. And he got hurt but played in the playoffs. And was ineffective.

Due to his limited resume, and relative to your point re: elite QB did we hitch our wagon to someone who rode Michael Penix to the promise land?

That Washington team won alot of one possession games. Game management is an obvious gameplay/GameDay flaw of Coach Deboer.

If we can all see what's coming from our offense AND defense's you damn well know the other team does and has game planned for it.

The coaching staff lost to Vandy?!?

There are a lot of good threads about Grubb on the Seahawks’ Reddit sub.

TL;dr, the biggest thing is he either couldn’t or wouldn’t do what his boss wanted him to, and that generally is a good way to get fired.

Everyone on the sub was pretty much unanimously glad to see him go, said he may be a great college OC but was a horrible fit for the NFL because his playbook and schemes were overly complicated, they absolutely require an elite quarterback, they depend on talent mismatches that don’t exist in the NFL like they do in college ball and he kept beating the offense’s head against the wall doing the same old same old instead of making adjustments as far as plays to compensate for Seattle’s crappy offensive line to where there could be some balance on offense.

Plus apparently he was slow getting plays in and some folks said the alignments and snap cadences were so predictable that the Seahawks were practically tipping off plays, run or pass.

This... I've been saying this same thing. Dumboer had Penix at Indiana, and again for 2 seasons at Washington, along with 2 1st round wide outs. He also had Jake Haener when he was at Fresno St. that threw for over 4k yards. Penix shoulda/coulda won 2 Heismans. Mediocrity has come so quickly. No accountability for players and the integrity of the program has suffered in just 14 short games. 5 losses in the last 10 games with what was supposedly a stacked roster. Hard to watch.

Like I said in my post, Grubb’s offense and by extension DeBoer’s must have an elite quarterback and relies on talent mismatches to work.

I think Grubbs called a good game. He went away from the run early and called a dumb 3rd and 1 play but those passes plays he was calling would have been TDs if our QB could read and throw on time.

When we were down so many points we had to lean on throwing.

He called a good enough game for us to come back even with all the mistakes and had that idiot James Smith not done thst stupid late hit we would have gotten the ball back to tie the game.

Our only hope is that we start Keelon Russell. Yes, a freshmen is bound to make some freshmen mistakes but I would rather have him than a QB that gets easily rattled and is hesitant to pull the trigger when a receiver is open. I agree with the person who said Simpson reminds them of Blake Barnett. Saban was smart enough to replace him with Hurts.

The bigger problem Sat. was the defense getting smashed and the coaches not punting them inside the 10 twice.

As bad as I dislike Kiffen, he would have been by far the better hire in this modern age, he has the gravitas these players like, he learned under Saban, and got way better as a coach. He knows recruiting in the south, has connections in other words.

If Bama misses the playoff, look for him to be the next Bama coach. Not that I care, but you guys do. I only watch Basketball and Baseball, I just despise what CFB has become.

Ty had a game about like I expected. He had a game that during Saban years when the offense had soul crushing offensive linemen and running backs and a defense that slowly strangled you to death would have been enough to win. Instead our defense shot out a great big turd and Ty had to throw us back into the game, he was not up to the task and that is not surprising. Even if he had the talent he's been training to be a game manager all this time because the staff assumed the defense would put up some sort of fight.

The game manager strategy needs to be scrapped. He has to steal 2 or 3 scores a game by taking it by force, hook or crook. That means taking wild chances.

THIS

I don’t agree with this “run the ball more!” stuff. We have to let these receivers loose.
