It was not Arch’s “first start”.

I keep seeing this over and over as an explanation for his lackluster game on Saturday.
He’s a junior. Before this season, he had played in 12 games, started 2 of them (including an SEC game against Mississippi State), and thrown almost 100 passes.

I’ll grant that Ohio State on the road is a step up, but can we stop pretending that he is some fresh-faced neophyte with no game experience before Saturday?

He will be really good by season’s end. He played against an NFL DC and if you watched the game saw him learning and it slowing down some for him.
I’m not saying he will win the Heisman this season but am saying with the tools around him especially that Oline and RBs, he is best set-up for success. His defense will give him extra possessions.
That Tejas team is loaded with talent.

Well, OK, but doesn’t that apply to almost any QB?
Like I’ve said elsewhere, I have no beef with Arch. He’s a kid living a good life and may end up a really good QB.
My issue is with the relentless and hyperbolic hype, even to the point of obscuring his actual status going into this game by claiming this was effectively his first game or start.

He's rusty. Hasn't played in years

I love the absolute minimalism of this statement.
Anyway, Arch needs to work on the part between the ears. Kid was absolutely on tilt.

yeah man, playing in your home stadium against ULM and Miss State is definition only a step below going to Columbus for a 1v3 match up

Of course you have no beef with Arch.
But here you are starting a thread about how it's not his first start, blah, blah, blah.
Who cares. He'll have his chance to improve and prove who is right about his upside.
Why you care so much is the bigger mystery.

He's just worthless against good defenses. Always has been, and judging by Ewers and Sark's inability to teach anything always will be
