What does the BAMA A&M game tell us?

1. What do we need to see to have hope for the season? How many points on Offense, allowed on Defense, ST's work etc?
2. Plays called, how many, what kinds, how coaches interact, etc?
3. Cruits there for the game, for the future?
Personally, we need to win by 52 points, hold them to 10 or less....
We need a 50 yd FG for chits and giggles...
We need Green to hit at a high rate of passes.. let's say? 74% Completion rate... 101 Yards rushing.

I see it as a glorified scrimmage. As long as we win by 21+ points and have the one's off the field by halftime, I'm happy. The team should test new concepts and not worry about style points.

I’m going to be honest that at first I thought we were saying Bama and A&M were playing this week and I was so confused.

Alabama A&M is bad by HBCU standards and those are generous standards. Their band will probably smoke our band though.
We call off the dogs fairly early (Pittman doesn't like embarrassing teams) and get a lot of players on field time while revealing as little of our playbook as humanly possible.
If this isn't a glorified warm up game... burn the stadium to the ground, cancel the season, turn your attention to our soccer team, and hunker down for basketball to start.
Hogs hang half a hundred on them and don't try to run up the score (and get players injured) like Mizzou did against UCA.

Both lines must dominate. If they don’t, it’s a sure sign that we’ll suck again.

Agree with some about the lines. Let's dominate and the Oline should be vastly improved.
I want to see our Qback do more than one read fairly often, granted ... the Oline needs to give time, but he also needs to speed that process up a bit.

I feel like you can take almost nothing from these types of opponents. No serious injuries is probably the main thing.

We won't be able to find out if we're good, but we can sure find out if we're bad.

If we barely scrape by Bama A&M people will say we ran a vanilla game-plan so we wouldn't show anything and deny reality that we suck again.
If we blow them out we’ll think we have the best team in a decade and think we are winning 8 games.
This one will tell us next to nothing.

I used to be that guy. With more age and wisdom I have realized it just means we suck.

I feel like those days are long gone, at least with BMFP at OC. We will score 60-70 today.

This is basically like the old red white games used to be. You can see who wants to play a little bit..other than that….not much.
So far:
Waaaay too much separation by their recievers.
Defense looks pretty lame overall.
Offense looks very good. Will hope the Oline looks this good against a real front. Pass game is on. Those helmet cams may be paying off.

Blew them out. We winning it all!!
We did exactly what we were supposed to do. Doesn't mean we are world beaters, doesn't mean we suck. We'll get a little better idea next weekend, then week 3 all will be made known.

This was probably the lowest amount of penalties in one of these games in a long time.
Petrino has taught Green who to effectively hide the ball on play action, not to Mallett's level but better than the majority of what you see in the college games.
Both QBs can make the pass knowing they are about to take a hit, not to Wilson's level, but CTE isn't the goal here.
They defense the took the field.
The kicker has a big leg, addition by subtraction of the excersie star that was committed.

We did exactly what I thought we would do (though Alabama A&M had a great game plan for that first quarter, they started getting worn after that) including the Pittboss trying not to embarrass them.

So, Bammy A&M is a better program than UAPB.
Beat UAPB last year 52/24. Have won 6-7 against UAPB...
My point? Just what I wrote. We could have named our score on Sat. Easily in the 70's...
Our Offense is much better with Green, and even our RB's... with better blocking, it's coming.
Our RB's need to have the crap run out of them for their lack of blocking at times as well. I see a 8 win season, maybe more with my rose colored, koolaid drinking going on!

The part of our fanbase that laugh at fans for being optimistic & get upset at fans for laughing at their pessimism, amuse me

From what I saw some of the missed RB blocks were due to scheme and delayed blitzes. The RB waited for any unblocked rush, then took off on his route. The 3-4 second delayed blitz isn't going to be picked up if the RB is coached to go on a route at the same timing, so it's not as bad as it looked.
The offense does look much better, and the WR's look better than expected, even with some out with injuries.
I'm not sure how the defense is, other than they need to settle in and gel before Ole Miss. Some of the lack of execution looked like they were afraid to make any mistakes. They looked to be in positions to make plays quite often though, so that's something.
