It started with the massive bowl expansion. Continued with letting sub-500 teams in to fill all of the nonsense bowls. Now, with opt outs, transfers, and NIL divas, coaches have no idea what their roster may look like for a bowl game.
The bowls are purely exhibition for any team outside a power conference or on the traditional low end of a power conference. It is still football, but it is an absolute joke outside of the CFP
