Veteran backup QB who came in right before the half in the playoff game against Penn State and led them to a FG on the way to a comeback victory after going down 10 - 0.
Gritty drop back passer who we need to tee off on early on defense and not let him get into a rhythm.
Last year this kind of QB could have given us some fits with proper protection but we are stacked at linebacker now and in the secondary.
Although our best CB who's arguably the best corner in the nation Jermod McCoy likely won't play due to an ACL injury last year, we are still deep enough to blanket them most of the game.
The Syracuse o-line looks to be weak this year as well.
Vols - 38
Syracuse - 13

Have no idea what to expect from this Syracuse team. Completely different squad from last year. I do trust this coaching staff though after the season they put together last year.
O-line is not an obvious weak spot (solid transfers) but will not be anything amazing.
Close loss or blowout are both possible. Do not see Syracuse pulling out a W.

Holy sh#t. A real Syracuse fan.
On this board? I wasn't even sure you guys existed much less here on the rant.
They had a good football team overall last year actually. Can't underestimate a well coached team with a capable veteran transfer QB.
The biggest difference in this game will be our ability to run the ball at will IMO. Va Tech ran as they pleased on you guys last year I saw.

Yep. I consider Syracuse good luck. The last time we opened with them, we were replacing Peyton Manning with completely unknown QB and did what no one thought we could. Won a national championship.
Tee Martin - Joey Aguilar
Vols GBO

I believe Syracuse returns a lot. They just don’t return their QB.

I think UT wins but Cuse will definitely punch them in the mouth pretty good. Fran Brown has the experience against the Heupel offense and they do have a good bit coming back. Talent will overwhelm them in the end, give me Vols scoring a touchdown with ~5 minutes to go and getting a stop to win 27-17

They definitely aren't pushovers. Miami got caught by them last year and they won their bowl game in blowout fashion.

No we do not. It all depends on how the transfers work out. It was a fairly good transfer haul by Syracuse standards so we shall see.
Run defense always a problem at Syracuse. D-Line looking ok with some decent transfers and returners linebackers a little more of a question mark.
Really don't know what to make of this team. Neither a blowout or a close loss would surprise me.

Our preseason all american CB Jermod McCoy is likely out.

Amazing game.. can't believe that was the last time we played. That was at the tail end of Syracucse's late 80's to early 2000s run as a consistent top 20 program. Very evenly played game. A lot of Syracuse fans still salty about that pass interference call that kept your guy's (we don't say y'all) final drive alive. If it weren't for that call no National Championship.

How many transfers are starting for Syracuse this game? I still can't believe we have real Syracuse fans here.

Yes, Tee Martin and our NFL roster back then vs Donovan McNabb and one of Syracuse strongest teams ever.

Syracuse actually hasn't released a depth chart (neither has Tennessee I think) but it's going to be quite a bit of transfers starting.
There's a bunch of us Syracuse fans on TD... mostly seen in the OT lounge. We had a fun and competative home and away series with LSU like 6-7 years ago and some of us found this board then.

The last time they played was the 2001 season opener in Knoxville.
