Georgia is a given and the other two need to come from Auburn, LSU and Tennessee. I don't want Kentucky or Carolina. Nothing against them, but they are not rivals. I don't care how tough our schedule is because that is going to be take in consideration. I want a hard schedule with good teams and all our rivals. Bring Miami back every year too.

You’ll get a vote in this when you win a few more ships. You’ve got some catching up to do

I like you having LSU in there I agree. I hate that we don’t play Auburn anymore.

We just need an athletic director who isn't a pussy. We took one for the team (SEC) and gave up Auburn when we first expanded in 1992 and we shouldn't be one of the teams that has to do so again.

They have 3 teams to pick 2 from, so there is a little flexibility.

Do you mean on the field or like the barners? One seems a lot easier than the other.

Agree on Miami, and no one wants to go to Columbia every other year.

Don't see it happening. Last time before 9 games was dropped their goal was to limit teams to 2 of 3 games against the upper 8 and to limit some of the lower 8 to 1 of 3 games against the upper 8 to help them make a bowl game - after the must have rivalry games were accounted for.

Tennessee is in the lower group

Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Florida
Texas
Oklahoma
LSU
A&M

2 from that group.. 1 from below
that was the formula for those 8 teams in 2025..2026

But Alabama gets Tennessee, so maybe that won’t work..

Agreed. I'm in a similar but slightly different position in that I don't want Tennessee's 3 permanent games to be Alabama, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

Alabama, Florida and Kentucky OR Vanderbilt would be fine, but Alabama, Kentucky & Vanderbilt is to watered down. No disrespect to Kentucky or Vanderbilt, but they're behind both Bama & UF for me in terms of interest level, watchability and level of dislike which is what makes rivalries fun & meaningful. No A&M was supposedly in the lower 8 as they were looking at it. The upper 8 was AL,TX FL, GA, LSU, TN, Auburn and OK. The rumor from some sports writers was the SEC was going to give us OK possibly as our 2nd upper 8 because it was hard to work things out otherwise and that Bama told them they would not take LSU since they already had TN and Auburn.

Yes. And I don't want to hear that Tennessee is not a traditional rival of Florida's. Auburn is our oldest rival, even older than Georgia and they split us up for the first expansion. So that argument is moot in my opinion.

If you want a guinea pig for playing a tough schedule, we can be that. I would rather have a mediocre season playing top teams than a great season playing middlin' teams.

Nothing against middlin' teams as we are one ourselves right now.

Look at the 2025 & 2026 schedules.. all 16 teams play 4 from Group A and 4 from Group B

Group A
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Texas
Oklahoma
LSU
Texas A&M

Texas example

Group A
Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, A&M

Group B
Kentucky, Arkansas, State, Vandy

The same is true for all 16 teams.

Why is Tennessee is Group B?
Look at their SEC record from 2012 to 2021. It’s pretty bad. The SEC used a 10 year look back window to create those 2 groups. It’s also why Texas schedule looks easy..

Miss State had more SEC wins than Ole Miss. Oklahoma was really good during that stretch and Texas wasn’t. Tennessee was closer to Vandy than Alabama.

Not sure but with the 9 game schedule they were upper 8 supposedly. It's kind of a 9/7 situation with just looking at teams that money is poured into winning championships but I think they looked at SEC championships and division ones etc also and then threw TX and OK in with the top 6.

Most SEC teams only have 2 rivals, if that. But adding the third keeps the schedule rotation easy.

I agree it should be 9.

2 vs that group + 1 below

AL - Auburn .+ Tennessee
AUB - Alabama + Georgia
FL - Georgia + ??
GA - Florida + Auburn
TX - Oklahoma + A&M
OU - Texas + ??
LSU - A&M + ??
A&M - LSU + Texas
Tennessee - Alabama + ??

Option 1
Florida vs Tennessee
LSU vs Oklahoma

Option 2
Florida vs LSU
Tennessee vs Oklahoma

Both make sense, but I like Option 1 better for Thanksgiving purposes.. LSU vs OU

Then you add 1 team from the bottom group of 7.

AL vs State
TN vs Vanderbilt
TX vs Arkansas
OU vs Mizzou
LSU vs Ole Miss
FL vs Kentucky
GA vs So Carolina

AUB vs Ole Miss or State
A&M vs Arkansas or SC

This is the best solution imo.

RESULT

AL - AUB + TN + MS
AUB - AL + GA + OM
GA - FL + AUB + SC
FL - GA + TN + KY
TX - OU + A&M + ARK
OU - TX + LSU + MIZ
LSU - A&M + OU + OM
A&M - LSU, TX, ARK

V - KY + SC + TN
KY - V + MS + FL
OM - MS + AUB + LSU
MS - OM + KY + AL
SC - MIZ + V + GA
MIZ - SC + ARK + OU
ARK - A&M + MIZ + TX

Hell fricking no.

If I were the AD at UF, I would leave the conference if we don't end up with 3 rivals as our 3 permanents.

Big 10, Big 12, whatcha got, we are listening. Time to lawyer up.
