And so ends the strange, long, winding tale of Zach Evans

I just read he retired after less than a month in the Jets training camp.
I can't really recall a kid who generated more random headlines while generating so little and making so many strange choices.
- Started at Galena Park North Shore and was a 5 star prospect and touted as the best Texas high school running back prospect since Adrian Peterson.
- Suspended for several games his senior year for disciplinary reasons. He then skips a playoff game to retake the ACT. He then is kicked off the team hours before the state title game against Duncanville.
- Evans admits to a few folks privately he has already sent a LOI to Georgia during the UA All American game and then walks back his supposed announcement after the game, announcing he will not announce.
- Georgia releases him from his LOI without comment and Evans starts appearing in the media with Deion Sanders
- Flirts with Ole Miss, A&M, Tennessee, LSU, and Florida. Picks TCU randomly.
- Has two decent but not great seasons at TCU. He tells new coach Sonny Dykes he is locked in after Gary Patterson retires but portals to Ole Miss anyway
- Has a solid junior year, enters the draft, selected in the 6th round. Gets 9 carries his first season and is then cut.
- Retires
That is packing a lot in over a a short period of time.

K’Lavon Chaisson and Charles Ross have been the only good things to come out of North Shore.
Both will have left LSU as National Champions and 1st round picks.
Great, smart and talented young men

No Denver Harris?
You should add Cory Redding, Andre Gurode, Trey Hopkins, and Chykie Brown to that list.

No thanks.
None of them won a National Championship or were drafted in the 1st round.
Try to keep up

He only started 3 games for UTSA last year and now transferred to UNLV, which is his 4th school in 4 seasons
What has he done well exactly?

Didn't his dad shut down all media at one point and say the only way to get recruitment info was to pay him directly?

2025 is going into his first year, not a championship or first rounder at least not yet.

That must have been someone else because the main reason his recruitment was so insane was that his dad had died and he was just juggling it all himself primarily.
I can still remember him "not announcing" his announcement at the UnderArmour All American game and all the reporters scrambling.
Fun read on the whole thing.

I remember this story but can’t recall who it was about.

He actually was upset after Ole Miss paid him the agreed amount because it was less than the number he was told. Our staff had to explain to him that we were required by law to withhold taxes.

Was he the really good receiver that played with Manziel?

That would be Mike Evans who did not go to TCU or Ole Miss
