I remember back when Auburn would recruit Georgia and Florida well. The only Georgia recruit is from Columbus (basically the Opelika metro area) and is the 60th ranked recruit in Georgia.
That giant arse Kiwi lineman they signed was only offered by Auburn, FSU, USF, and....
Sacramento State.

Auburn will always be that program that no one really cares about and will always be little brother to Bama. Hugh Freeze fits that role perfectly.

They just got 5 star safety Jacoby Mathews. LSU sounded pretty confident he was going to transfer to them, but looks like Auburn swept in for him.

I'm not going to talk shite just yet about Auburn's recruiting class as we have PLENTY of time until Signing Day. However, I am starting to wonder if this new era of college football we find ourselves in is going to hurt more than help the Auburns of the world. Personally, I hope that is not the case. I have a good friend who is very much involved in the program as a mid-level booster. At first I thought he was doing his usual sandbagging, but now I'm starting to wonder if his words about the state of the program are true. Bottom line: he doesn't think Auburn can compete with Alabama, Georgia, or LSU in this new world we find ourselves in unless the rules change.
