Don’t see it discussed anywhere. I was out of the loop for most of last week so I’m trying make sense of the ruling.

So each school can spend $20.5m that will increase over time but for now 20.5m to spend on athletes.

However athletes can still receive current NIL deals but they must be approved through the new clearing house to be approved as real revenue generating advertising and not just paying players. (I’m sure there will be zero greasing the palms in that scenario)

Each school can determine how much of that 20.5m can be divided up among all teams under the athletic director.

Am I missing anything?

This sounds terrible

How will they enforce a clearing house saying yeah player A is or cannot make a certain deal offered by someone?

That’s how the powers that be want it. All the gray area.

Easy solution would be if you sponsor a kid at say Auburn you have to spend an equivalent amount on a player or players at 1 or multiple other schools.

All I know is I will be canceling OTV tomorrow

Also there are no more scholarship limits.

Apparently AU is planning on an additional 100+ athletic scholarships.

I wasn’t aware no limit on scholarships. I knew there was something surrounding walkons and the judge not wanting to do away with walkons opportunities

So the donors will be sending money to the school for more scholarships instead of donating to OTV. Or maybe both.

Can you imagine what these smaller schools are going to have to do raising donations like Vandy, Miami etc.

So instead of trying to rein in the NIL shite and try to fix the situation, they basically make it way worse

allows for the University to bridge the gap if teams run out of NIL donors after a few seasons of lackluster results at top dollar. NIL will get old for money men once results dont bear fruit

Will the teams who can’t deliver 20.5 million have a separate league of say 5 to 10 million?

How many athletic dept have 20.5 million to give?
Is it 50?100?

A couple of things I picked up from radio this morning.

Everyone is still not sure how Title IX plays in all this. They get around it now and “Revenue sharing” may be the key, but still not sure due to a judge or other entity determining how it plays out in a lawsuit.

They did say that the 3rd party company who reviewed and will be responsible for approving any deals above 600.00 from the co-OP’s, said 70% of the deals made under the co-ops would not have been approved.

In other words the co-ops that were just straight pay for play and not tied to companies using the NIL in advertising would be squashed based on what that company said

105 scholarships for Football and still allow walk-ins
34 scholarships for baseball
Didn’t hear what basketball is.
