Overall, I'd rate C-.

Football- loss to Michigan in mid level bowl game
Mens basketball- SEC semifinals, Elite 8
Women's basketball - NCAA second round
Softball- swept in Super regional
Baseball- 0-2 in regional

I know other sports weren't as good, like gymnastics and golf, too.

Only the basketball teams over achieved typical norms.

Byrne’s hires outside of CNO have been underwhelming so far but still too early to judge fully.

Gymnastics had a struggle regular season, but rebounded for a tournament run to the Elite Eight. They get a classroom smiley sticker for 2025.

This year was highly underwhelming. Football and basketball took a step backward. Baseball probably broke even.
(And no offense but I don’t watch girls sports so I can’t comment)

However I think football will be worlds better. Basketball is still too early to tell. Baseball better raid the portal and fire Jackson.

Just checked the calendar, it should also be noted.... the athletic year is still going on until Track and Field wrap up June 15th.

That said, I would have to agree, this has been a substandard year.

In terms of what we were hoping for, I think 2010 still owns the Biggest Underachieving Year of overall Bama Athletics this century.

Football racked up 3 losses and 0 relevant post season with one of the most stacked Saban rosters ever.

Basketball was still building under Grant, but the bubble denied us.

Softball was the #1 overall seed and complete shat the bed against 16 seed Hawaii

Gymnastics attained the #1 ranking several times only to fall apart at SECs and Nationals

Volleyball was meh, Soccer was meh, WBB was meh,

in fact the high mark was Baseball winning their last regional until 2023.

Yes, no hardware and no final four but we did make it to the elite 8. How many years would we have killed for that?

Overall, its tough being a Bama fan this year.

2024-2025 is one datapoint but I've definitely wondered if Alabama's future in athletics is dimmer without serious changes to NIL. We've got billionaires handing softball pitchers 1 million dollar deals to attend their alma mater now. Alabama simply will never have that money and the imperative to paying the bills requires the collectives pushing all the NIL funds into the football roster.

Alabama was a 2 seed that lost to the 1 seed. They did exactly what the tournament committee projected. The 2024 team overachieved and caught a very favorable 1 seed for them to upset in the Sweet 16. Frankly, only played one team in our path to the F4 that could play at our pace but that was an overrated UNC team.

For Alabama basketball, who made two prior Elite Eights in the entire program's history, the 2024-2025 season was a great year. I know we had dreams of winning the whole damn thing after that magical run but injuries lowered our ceiling from top 4 to top 8.

I’m sure most will disregard it but NCAA track & field is ongoing and still to be determined. At least 30 Bama athletes are headed to Eugene, OR for the NCAA Outdoor T&F championships June 11-14.

For the other sports I agree with a C or C-.

KDB is regarded as a top ten coach by nearly every media outlet , CNO hire speaks for itself and I may eat crow on this but I think Vaughn was an excellent hire . So I think the Big 3 is in pretty good shape IMO

Absolute down year. Time to pull up the bootstraps and figure out NIL. Baseball will never be good until we get a lottery. All SEC west will kill us until we can match their scholarships. Auburn is a red herring this year. Softball, well we know the problem.

Well the good part of being an All-Sports fan is the Off-Season is not really that long.

Between Track and Field ending in early June and Soccer kicking off the first exhibitions in early August, that's little more than one month full break.

I don't believe men's swimming finishing 13th and women getting 15th is underachieving historically. Maybe for the latter part of the skinner/pursley era, but not all history. I've definitely been on worse squads at bama next year will be the first season without any skinner/pursley recruits, and i do expect a drop-off... because it's true most non Oats hires have been quite underwhelming. I imagine most of the hires came with prior coaching experience, ever, of any type, but my sport wasn't afforded that luxury
