So how would you rule it then? Anytime you make any movement it’s a swing?

Pretty much

Make so it’s obvious

Like you can only move a little bit.

Can a pitcher stop halfway and say I didn’t want to make that pitch?

It seems like it would be an easy review. If it's determined that the ball would have been fair if it hit the bat, it's a strike.

I’d say the correct calls happen on 95% of check swing calls

No

Y’all are being sillier than what you accuse me of being

There should be no do overs in legitimate sports

You started your swing and got your bat across the plate….
That’s a strike

Well I see it often when the bat is across the plate

Then the home plate ump has to ask another ump to make the call

WTF is the home plate guy looking at when he’s two feet away

I know your going to say he’s watching the ball not the bat

That’s stupid

And do you really think the first or third base dumbass is paying attention to?

A guy that’s two feet away is incapable of making the call

But a guy 90 feet away gets it right all of the time

Yea that makes sense

You’ve just described the current rule of the check swing. So you don’t want to make any changes? I’m confused on your point lol. For example, if a batter turns his hips and the bat barely drops, are you saying that should be a swing?

This is not what I would say. I would say, however, that the home plate umpire has a pretty bad angle on if the bat crossed the plate.

The base umpire obviously can see the angle of the body to the bat as well as the plate.

To be honest... the worst thing about baseball anymore is that batters have turned fouling off two strike pitches into an art form.

I always laugh at the "payoff" pitch... because 90% of the time it is foul ball after foul ball.
