Welp, let's hope tonight and this weekend go better than yesterday did!
Can't go 0-162 without starting 0-1 first.

0-4 it is, oy.
Good news - last time the Braves started 0-4, we won the WS.

History says the Braves go 1-6 on this type of road trip, but the issue is they haven't been competitive. They may start the season 0-7 if they can't get on base, like at all.

I was watching the game last night and instead turned on the local news for more entertainment. That was sad.

Anyone could see this coming, well except for the Braves front office

They deserve everything they get this year. They ignored last year's severe underperformance and hid behind injuries, even though anyone who was watching knew the underperformance predated the injuries.

AA came out and publicly proclaimed that payroll was going up, and then entered the season with $28M less in payroll than they had at the end of last season.

They needed to sign or trade for at least one starter and one high leverage reliever. Instead, they threw a bunch of shite at the wall and hope it stuck. That's how you end up with Hector Neris's corpse in high leverage spots.

Their one big free agent signing is now facing an 80 game steroid suspension.

I'm really reconsidering how I view AA after this offseason.

This teams philosophy has been to spend just enough to be good, and maybe get lucky like they did. But they let every leader walk and didn’t do anything to replace, like you said, cut payroll by 28 million when you have an optimal roster.

Describing him as a “big free agent” after one good season in his entire career is a bit generous but I get your point

He was a bargain bin gamble.

We have to really start looking at guys like Albies and Acuna. Love them both, but I'm skeptical about Acuna coming back after a second ACL tear. Maybe he returns to form, but that is a tough tough comeback to full form. Albies has a club option for the next 2 seasons at 7 million, probably grossly underpaid for who he is. So you have to imagine they will pick up both of those years. Acuna has one more year after this year at 17 million, and he is rather screwed either way. If he underperforms or gets injured again, the team can let him go and he gets nothing. If he comes back like the old Ronald, he is stuck making 17 million for another 3 seasons.

The conversation that no one wants to have is the one asking if those club options are even worth picking up. He's only 28 but he looks like he's 38. If he isn't hitting for power as a left handed hitter, he's a replacement level player or worse at this point in his career. He isn't fast, he's a well below average defender, and he swings at everything.

Unfortunately, everything is based on what the top 5 teams are willing to give someone.

woof - this team. Starting 0-6 and probably going 0-7 tonight.
We have 9 runs, tied with the Rockies, as the worst in the league.

oof - this season might be BAD. Lot of baseball to play but looks like they're still in the offseason.

Did you jinx em with the 162 and 0 comment?

All signs point to yes.
