This year is wide open for who’s gojng to win the nc . I could see 3-5 teams
having a realistic chance …. They have to get the scoring right they are penalizing elite performances . When LSU played OU I thought LSU got screwed a lot with a very good performance their scores should have been a lot higher … and then this week OU got royally screwed . It’s not right what they are doing the coaches are getting pissed.

That’s the problem with subjective scoring

What would State and Ole Miss need to do to get a gymnastics team? Guessing add a men’s sports team?

Texas doesn't have one either.

As a former coach at an Olympic training center, the scoring in college gymnastics infuriates me. They do not give enough weight for difficulties and they allow the stick and walk off. It is supposed to be stick and hold. OU coaches are very good at understanding the college scoring system. LSU, Florida and UCLA have the better gymnast but they are performing to international standards and scoring.

I think your point is Florida this year has a lot of Olympic participants on their team but imo all coaches should know what the scoring is . The scoring I don’t think is an international college deal . They are trying to be get all judges on the same page with new training and all of them are being scrutinized so they are not handing out big scores anymore. OU just got their first 10 of the season half way thru the season . There are some collegiate gymnast who have 10-20 careers 10.0s in the 2000s. It’s just harder to get good scores and they are knit picking selectively imo. Overall scores are way down. The coaches are getting to their breaking points and what sucks is there is no appeals in college like international events for start values. I am not a super expert in gymnastics but I have heard enough press conferences to know some of the big issues .

Some of it is my point but it is not just this year. For the past ten years international and colligiate has gone in oppisite directions. International want the bigger moves and colligiate wants smaller more precious moves.

I yell at the Florida coaches on the TV to lower the routines all the time. It is amazing looking at OU's Gym titles compared to super stars. All goes to good coaching.
