Looks like Texas is moving to a Pro Model. I assume everyone else will follow suit.

Of course......the fans like it, better figure out how to charge for it or get rid of it.

Does that mean no spring practice?

Freeze talked about wanting to go this route. He wants them bulking up for longer and then OTAs later on.

OTA's in summer leading up to fall camp will be the future
no need for spring practice starting in March when season has been extended
I'm sure coaches would rather hands on summer practices over spring practice

Mizzou is still having their game, but any fans attending have to pocket and carry out dirt from the NEZ renovation, Andy Dufresne style.

They’ll still have 15 spring practices, but it’ll be more like OTA’s. Texas has played 30 games in two seasons and expects to play even more extended seasons.

Eh. More and more schools have canceled their spring game so it isn't a Texas thing.

The conspiracy theory on it is that schools don't want to let other teams see a player that may be second string and then get approached to transfer during the spring portal.

Sark doesn't want the fans or media to see Arch go up against a 1st team defense

From an OU great:

Gerald McCoy
@Geraldini93

The Spring Game all though to some players is just another practice, to others it’s the only time they’ll have an opportunity to perform in front of that crowd. Just sit the guys you know don’t need it. Some players practice well but when the fans show up they can’t handle the lights. This is a chance to see who’s who. But also it’s a chance for the alumni to fellowship, the fans to show up and have a good time. Shoot even the NFL has night practice showcases during training camp. Spring games are a staple in college and one of the things that separates it from the NFL. Canceling the spring game is a no go!! If that’s the road we’re headed down, college football will truly be lost.

Most of the schools want to cancel the game because they don't have enough players for it.

85 scholarships minus 10/15 graduates minus 30 outgoing transfers plus a few early enrollees doesn't leave enough for two 2-deep squads.

Of the 25 HS players Texas signed, 21 are already enrolled and on campus. Numbers aren't the issue.

Arch's backup is a Stud. No reason to showcase that to the uneducated.

Matt Rhule thinking that anyone cares about his program is the conspiracy.

I used to go watch Texas practice at a huge field at the intersection of Lamar and something. Times have changed.

LSU just took a Nebraska transfer. Every program has at least a few good players who could get tampered with, although I don't know how much of a difference cancelling the spring game will make.
