The TV audience for the midafternoon game on ESPN was the most-watched ESPN game of the season, the network told AL.com. Viewership averaged 2.8 million, according to ESPN, with the peak audience hitting 3.5 million.
That audience was the second-highest of any network this season, the network said. It was also the highest-rated game for any SEC contest in the ESPN portfolio since the 2018-19 season.

For more context, the Alabama-Auburn football game last season drew 7.16 million viewers on ABC. That was the 31st-largest TV audience of the college football season, according to the list compiled by Footballscoop.com.

Imagine how much better the peaks would be if AU hadn't whipped that arse.

You realize ESPN already televises the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest? And it gets better ratings than the majority of college basketball games?
Most Watched Hot Dog Eating Contests
This proves you aren’t a Texas fan. Texas men know all about where to watch men swallow wieners.

I mean for the love of god that isn't going to change.....
College baseball will also never draw the ratings of college basketball.

Lots of folks don't get the ESPN family due to costs, but still get ABC. Basketball will never outdraw football. The fact that Sankey signed a deal where ESPN controls the conference while the BigTen laps up money from the major networks will hamper the SEC long term. Sankey =SEC sinkey
