There's no need for an explanation
Posted on 1/14/25 at 8:22 pm to ugasickem
You will no longer know what sort of team you will field for the next season

Is this a cry for help? What’s the point in starting a whole new thread if there’s no explanation needed? Quit acting like a 13 year old girl.

He does this every couple of months. He is off the rails, in real life. Something horribly wrong has happened to him and I feel for him.

Well, let me help you out...
Never in the history of history has a sport changed so much in such a short period of time and all for the worse.
17 year old kids with agents and "buyout clauses"
What's the point of having a top 2 or 3 recruiting class when half, or more, of them will be gone the next year?
The value of a full ride scholly to a prestigious university like UGA is as meaningless as toilet paper.
Pimple-faced kids who really know NOTHING about life and only care about driving around in a Lamborghini Diablo with a playboy model are pretty much dictating and running the direction of the sport.
That's just for starters. If anyone wants to elaborate on the other things like...a screwed up playoff system, horrible officiating, no more 'national signing day', the unclear and ridiculous targeting penalty, the even MORE unclear and ridiculous celebratioon penalty, etc. feel free to jump in. (sigh)

You can think you are better than me all you want, college football sucks, no matter what you think.

Don't lose too much sleep over it. Civilizations, along with all of their traditions and fanfare, rise and fall. A couple of millenia ago (give or take a few centuries), the ancient Greeks were no doubt lamenting the loss of their Olympic games. In due time, they had more important things to worry about.

Spot on.
Easy way to fix it is NIL cap and sit a year after portaling. Who knows if they’ll ever do it.

I can absolutely relate.
I got so pissed and my language was so bad during the ND game that I embarrassed myself in front of my spouse.
As I have said before, I'm just glad that Kirby managed to get us a couple of NCs before this mess came to fruition.
I will adjust emotionally by lowering my expectations as I have for basketball and baseball.
I am normally an objective pragmatic person but my passion for UGA football has gotten the better of me.
So going forward I will watch the games with a more objective perspective and hope that Kirby is able to recruit players like Ladd McConkey who do not go to the highest bidder and actually want to be part of Georgia football.

These kids, and their counterparts at other schools will be the only saving grace for CFB if the portal and unlimited NIL continue on their present trajectory.

My guess, if you look at our recruiting class this year, is that Kirby consciously signed more players from the state of GA. It would potentially make it more difficult to want to leave and go to another school.
A) he's already home and B) may have already developed a love for good ole UGA.
But, as has been written previously, playing time is playing time, and money is money.

My love for the game is definitely being tested.
I don't even know what I would do with CFB. Maybe birding?

How many season ticket holders here who are thinking of not renewing? That might be the beginning of the pushback. Then less general attendance will bring about lower ticket prices. Then the whole thing declines.

In some form or fashion, the reason we love college football has been diminished. It may be different for each person, but it has been affected.
I've never been one to "boo" players, pro or not. But there is a new standard to which college players are being held.
When a $3-4 million QB continues to make irrational throws that hurt the team with no consequences, fans have and will continue to rightfully vent their frustrations.
PS. I've stopped calling 18 year olds as "kids". When they are demanding the money and benefits at this level and can sign a legal contract, they are adults. In my opinion, 18 is the new 28.
Hell, they don't want to be called kids unless the circumstances are in their best interest to be called so.

Yep. I'm about done with it too. Grateful to experience the 21-22 season before it all went to pot. There will never be an equal to those 2 seasons or anything even close.
