Did he already get a degree? Will he come back home to Athens to finish a degree or add another one? Maybe work as a Grad Assistant and try to start a coaching career?

Not sure if I've ever seen a player retire without some medical thing. How demoralized does a 22 year old kid have to be to retire from the game? Maybe he got a good nest egg from NIL money?

Its interesting how many of Kirby’s QBs from the single greatest era in Georgia football fizzle out at the next level

Playing QB as QB1 or QB2 for any length of time in the NFL is amazingly difficult, you may have the physical tools but the organization gets behind a different player.
I think it has no bairing on any thing honestly unless you are proud of what Nebraska did this year

I’m not criticizing, just pointing out that Kirby has done it in a very different kind of way
Take Alabama for instance if you want an orthodox example of college dynasty QBs.
McElroy, Jalen, Tua, Jones, Brice yung, I’m probably forgetting some others

Vandagriff could have been our starting QB next season but I get that is a long time to wait to finally win a starting position and also not knowing if Beck would come back for another season.
And yea, Kentucky was a bad place to get beat up to showcase his skills.

Wasn't he the top rated QB when he committed to Oklahoma? To fall all the way from that to being benched at Kentucky would be a hard pill to swallow. If he had stuck around, it would have been him in the second half instead of Gunner. I wonder how that would have turned out for us.

Honestly, none of Bama QBs are truly better than average in the NFL, the best currently is OUs Hurts who is hurt.

Richt was probably the best QB developer in the country during his prime but his job isn't to make good NFL QBs. His job was to develop the college kids on his roster to win games in college and there were very few people in that era that did it better that richt/bobo.

We were all sitting here thinking Brock was the next coming a few years ago. Of course we end up saying that about a lot of recruits. I think Eason was one of the biggest busts we have seen. He was supposed to be the next great QB out of college. i think Murray was hindered by his height.

As has been pretty well documented on this board, I was never impressed with Brock and had a couple of e-tussles over it. I think the step up in competition from High School to college was beyond his capacity to grow and develop adequately.
Really seems like a good kid and I hope he has a successful life regardless what he chooses to do. I have a lot of respect for him being able to make this momentous decision at such an early age. It shows maturity.

holy hyperbole batman! His career at UGA didn't go how we wanted but I wouldn't even call him a bust period, certainly not one of our biggest ever. That distinction is probably someone that we can't even remember becuase of how little they did here.
Eason came in with an entirely new staff and regime change to a team that wasn't nearly as talented as future rosters with a ragtag collection of an OL. He threw for 2400+ yards as a TFr in the SEC. Beat a ranked opponent in his first college game, had the thrilling come from behind win on the road at missouri, and led us to a bowl win. Injuries ended his career here before he threw for 3100+ yards and 23 TDs at washington before getting drafted to the NFL. If all that spells "biggest bust we've ever had" then sign me up for a lot more busts.
