Alabama and Ole Miss lost to average to terrible teams more than once and that's why they're not in the playoff. Just amazing how many want to overlook a 21 point loss to a 2-6 conference team.

Yep, the games have to matter. Otherwise, skip the regular season and base the playoffs on recruiting rankings.

Bottom line is play easier games so you have more chances at wins, which is all that matters.

But those wins are wiped out with the kind of losses you had. Don't understand why you all don't get that.

Why would we decide by who you lost to rather than who you’ve beaten? Everyone proved capable of losing games. Very few proved they can beat really good ones. Nobody has better wins than Ole Miss and Alabama. Teams should win their games and make it a no brainer, but the committee should put the best teams in regardless. Nobody wants to see what we’ve just watched.

SMU lost two games. Those don’t matter? Everyone but Oregon lost games. So the “just win” argument is irrelevant in a 12 team playoff world. The debate is over how you evaluate a huge cluster of teams with losses. Is it purely how many you have and who they were to? And do the quality of the wins even have a place in the conversation anymore?
