If I gave you $1,000,000 to bet on who would win in Bama vs SMU, who would you bet?

I don't even have to get a response, I know for an absolute fact that every single person here would bet Bama. Why? Because money talks, bullshite walks.
Most people are talking heads full of shite opinions until money gets on the table. Then you really figure out what they think. Then and only then will you see what someone really thinks.
The only reason people want them in is because they are anti-Bama bias and don't want to see a 7th or 8th Bama nat in the last 2 decades. Life is not a participation trophy DEI viewpoint. You give the trophies to the better team. Not the cinderella just because you're tired of the dominant team winning agian.

Depends on if it's a road game, Bama didn't fare well vs teams with running quarterbacks on the road.

What would records be if bama played smu schedule and smu bamas. You had to bet a million. Could bama be 11-2 or better? Probably undefeated with Clemson a semi toss up. Smu with bama schedule zero chance at 9-3. Would be struggling to make a bowl.

Alabama.
SMU defense could not come close to stopping Milroe. They don't have a defense like Oklahoma.
I wonder what the line would be, I bet Alabama -12ish

No, lol. No it would not. If I literally gave you $1,000,000 on Alabama @ SMU, I know for an absolute fact that you and anyone else would bet Bama.
$1,000,000. $1,000,000. Not pretend money, but an actual 10,000 benjamins sitting on a suitcase in front of you. Don't even act like you would put money on SMU in any scenario.

Probably true, I wouldn't have put anything on Oklahoma or Vanderbilt either.

Hell, I even bet if I said Bama's 2nd string vs SMU, most people would still pick Bama for a million dollars.

If it was a week after a Bama win over UGA, I would put every cent on SMU.

I love the "what if" game that people like to play.
What if we judge teams by what they actually did on the field, rather than what we think might happen?

If you would have bet $1 million on Alabama vs Vandy or Oklahoma, how would you have done?
The fact is, the playoff is not supposed to be a hypothetical about “who would win”. It’s about the season they played, and who did win

Neither. I'd put it in the bank and collect interest and watch both of them lose in the playoffs.

Yeah if bama was battered from a tough Georgia game or looking ahead to iron bowl maybe smu. But neutral field no distractions or excuses just pure football with keep bama gonna win 40 something to 17-21

Let’s be honest. The media/power structures within college football will do whatever they can do to keep us out. It has nothing to do with the committee’s stated purpose of determining the best teams. No one disagrees that we would be in with that metric. The fact that we are even having this discussion tells you all you need to know about what Bama has to go up against year in and year out.

Bama couldnt beat Oklahoma and Vandy. I think they would get destroyed and embarassed on national tv…

Because people can't figure out what exactly the teams DID on the field. Two teams with 11 humans each doing wtfever times how many plays a game? Then multiply that by referees and whatever each of them are watching each play and feeling like calling penalties or not. And blah blah blah and then you get STATS and Wins Losses and THAT MATTERS.
