“during his seven-year tenure, his teams went 59-22-2, and won four out of five bowl games.”

You don't get the luxury of being an average man with a last name like Battle.

He was a popular coach with the fans and players.

He also coached a few great players.

Class man....I walked around Neyland selling cokes just to see the games when he was coach.

Bill Battle was a very smart man. He was the head coach at the University of Tennessee at 28 years old. He may have been the youngest ever in modern times to be a head coach at an SEC School.

He started that sports licensing company after he left Tennessee. If you bought SEC sports memorabilia, you helped to make Bill Battle a very rich man.

He had all the major schools not just SEC. He made a fortune on Notre Dame merchandise alone.

If your son grows up to be like Bill Battle, you did a good job. RIP.

That's unreal.

RIP Coach.

Battle’s words carried the weight that would break a normal man’s jaws
